speaker problem

I put together a new system recently and everything is going fine aside the bass box or what ever it is called on my 2.1 speaker set.

When i have no bass on it hums in such a load way that when i turn the speakers off there is a sense of relief, i have turned everything down in the windows sound options but that has changed very little. any ideas?

you mean the subwoofer?

transformers interfere lots with speakers. try and move the speaker cabling away from any transformer that may be lying around nearby. Also check that everything is connected properly at the back - like i said it sounds like its an interference problem.
