Question shuttle ss51g v2 owner fed up ,upgrade suggestions

    hello ,
i have a ss51g V2.0 and im sick of it , its not slow or anything , i think its time i upgraded this to a newer shuttle ,

    i have ( 1 gig ram, dvdrw , 2.2intel , and bfg nvidia 6800gt )
the 6800 is having some problems , and i dont know if it is the shuttles fault or not , but it is not running at its potential because of the agp 4x limit ,
and aslo i needed to buy the 300w power supply , (havent yet since 80 bucks )
and for that money might as well buy a new shuttle

unfourtunatly , i dont want to buy all new crap yet so , is there any comparable models , that i can swap a ss51g's parts into ,
like a socket 478 shuttle that someone can recomend , its time i upgraded , and i should aslo mention i use this with linux and Xp

any help appreciated , thanks in advance

You are probably best getting a whole new shuttle/system as what you have currently has all moved on to the latest format's. If not I would suggest a SN95G5 on the AMD side as it allows you to keep your AGP card and Ram while allowing you to get a Dual core Processor.

If not the SN75G is a fairly decent system on the Intel side.
Hope that has helped a little.

i was kinda hoping there was a socket 478 shuttle that was at least more modern than my taster , id like to keep my 3.6 ghz processor .... because i was able to overclock it wth favorable results (4.3 stable w\ watercool) plus im on a low to nill budget , the reason i still have it , lateley i have been having problems with artifacts on the screen and funky sound over the optical out .. all signs point to the motherboard and power supply and therefore not worth buying same motherboard if there is a better alternitave

Oh if its a better CPU than the 2.2Ghz that you listed then keep with it.

I recommend the SB75G2 then (got the letter wrong first time) Thats known to be a very reliable socket 478 shuttle also the SB65G2 is know for its reliability.

    Hope that helps more

    http://www.aria.co.uk/

I would stick with the 250w PSU thats decent enough.

If you have the 200w in the SS51G it might be best to get the 300w as it would be cheaper than buying a new system the agp x4 should't limit you that much if at all.

Ahh sorry this is mainly a UK site hence the English links.

newegg.com seems to be the main US site. I don't know of any others im afraid.

you could ask on www.sudhian.com likely to get more replies over there.

I have now fitted 6! replacement Shuttle power supplies - Won't be buying another SFF from them.

It seems that none of the early SFF boxes from Shuttle had a reliable PSU fitted, I sick of forking out £50-60 for replacements.

I have one box working on a standard PSU and another waiting to go in the bin.
