NAS box of the gods (well.. kinda)

well iv just made a little ebuyer purchase of:

D-Link DBT-122 Bluetooth USB Adapter
Sumvision USB2.0 3.5 Aluminium Silver Caddy
Linksys Network Storage Link For - USB 2.0 Disk Drives
D-link Airplus Xtremegtm 11/54/108mbps Usb Dongle

the bluetooth thingummy is irrelevant

the caddy will have a 120GB maxtor +9 going in it
the Linksys Network thing is actually the NSLU2, so good times there!
and the Dongle is to replace a 54g one on my main pc (108 meg modem-router)
also being attached is a 5GB Rio Carbon with a dead volume wheel. should allow me to copy small files on the quiet

anyone got a Slug? im going to be overclocking and reflashing with firmware to allow torrents etc. anything else that could come in handy?

Only thing to make sure is that your Maxtor DM+9 won't overheat in that enclosure. Doesn't look like the enclosure have a fan?

it doesnt. but theres going to be a lot more thermal dissipation than its got sitting on top of my DVD-RW right now

I don't know if this is relevent, but i've had an awful time with UB wireless adapters. Each one I've had has overheated and caused my computer to BSOD, especially when downloading torrents and playing online games. Sorry if that was pointless.

however its going to be a strait swapout from a Belkin 54g USB one which has been perfect. dont have a PCI slot to spare otherwise i would have of course gone that route

funny that, the only USB one i've used that worked properly was the belkin one that most likely is the same as yours. however, that one gave me annoying ping spikes in battlefield 2. Ah well, maybe you'll get lucky!

oh balls, really? iv got us using the belkins at work aswell and there all fine so its all i know.. crap, really want to go home and test it now (its all arived and is sitting next to me, begging to be tried out)
