3 degree temp difference between each core on my E6400??!

Sycthe Samuraii
Zalman Super Thermal grease
Sharkoon Rebel 9 Case (w 250mm side case fan blowing onto Scythe + Mobo)
H/S secured and tightened properly; no lapping.

In both TAT and Core temp I'm getting unsual temperature readings between the cores.

Standard 2.13GHz (After warming up / Ambient 24 degrees)
Core 1: 30 Idle
Core 2: 27 Idle

O/C'd to 2.9GHz (lazy overclock)
Core 1: 34 Idle
Core 2: 31 Idle

O/C'd to 2.9GHz
(For example Dual Prime)
Core 1: 51 full load
Core 2: 46 full load

Every time you see a post with either Tat or Core Temp temperature readings there always seem to be a difference of 1 degree between the cores ie Core 1: 32 Core 2: 31/32.

Should I be concerned??

There is usually a slight difference, its nothing to worry about

Mines about 2 degrees different so I wouldnt worry.

What are you using to measure core temps? The utility that came with my ASUS only reports one temperature.

Intel Thermal Analysis im guessing is what he's using

BTW, just to but in what's the highest 'safe' temperature for these? Mine hit 60-63 on 100% load. (e6300 @ 2.8)

Thing is I am worried. I could not find an installer on Intel's website, so I googled for it and downloaded it from another source and installed it.

The problem is, the properties on the installer says "Copyright (C) 2005 Macrovision Corporation". Given Macrovision's general reputation for badness I am worrying that I have installed a trojan horse that reports CPU temps as advertised, and in the background is installing spyware or a rootkit on my system.

I went back to intel's website, and had a good hard look in their download section, using every search term I could think of, but still came up with nothing.

If someone can find me a download URL at intel's website I would feel a lot better, but in the meantime I think we should be careful.

Macrovision make the installer - it's one of the biggest companies in IT development, and have been around for eons... they make Installshield installers that have been going around since Windows GUIs came along - at least..

If there's any problems in there, then it's because Intel have included them. Stop being so pessimistic.
