depends on what you use the system for, if your only doing it for faster boot times i don't see a huge point to it. If your gonna do it tho hang on a bit, there are some bigger capacity WD raptor drives due out soon iirc
Someone on AMD3D did that with 2 raptors ... worked well, although costs alot and is hella noisy! Also don't use that sort of RAID for ANY importand information as it can be lost / corruped so easily in that mode!

Overkill? no. Got 5 x 10k drives sat in a hardware raid 5 array here.

not at all overkill. win xp used to load in 9 seconds (according to bootvis) with dual raptors on my PC. its now nearer 15 seconds as the bluetooth takes all that extra time to finish doing its stuff :/
i've not yet had a problem with corrupted info either.
