That's a myth, the performance meets or exceeds x86. Driver support is only limited on more obscure hardware that was never well supported to begin with. And all 32bit software runs on it. Whereas x86_64 software will never run on x86

Yeah, Vista needs 2GB of RAM to really feel at home and strech its legs so to speak. Although AFAIK there's little to speak of between RC2 and RTM.

Is it not the case that you have to hunt for these drivers though? I was considering 64 myself but loads of people said its a pain tracking drivers down, which put me off....

Finding 64bit drivers is the same process as finding 32bit drivers, nothing has changed, never will as long as Microsoft ignore package management. However at least vista automatically fetches basic drivers from their servers in the absense of drivers from the disk.

Well to bring the topic back on subject AMDs price cuts seem to have taken effect today so looks like a pre-emptive strike to me

Well its even worse as my old comp mobo fried so now im reduced to a quite old laptop :

anyway arnt these new price suts going to be around 40% cut off and i rekon theyl drop a little by then so i rekon a E6600 that costs £190 now drops to around £180 pushing it which equals around £118 but that will probly be raised to £125

    Hopefully
