Hi all, ok.. how to explain.

Is it safe to run a network connection off of a POE switch that does not require power? As in...



The poe switch has 8 ports, 7 are connected to phones and one is acting as an uplink to a switch in the network cabinet. It's this uplink that I am worried about. It doesn't seem like a strange way to run things, but I just wanted to make sure!

Nothing to worry about, you can plug in non PoE devices in to a PoE switch. You're unlikely to have problems even if it's non standard PoE gear.

Running off a PoE enabled port to non-PoE switch will definitely not cause any issues.

You can even attach a computer to the POE switch and it will not cause any problems.
