Laptop CPU's ?
Hello,
I am going to be buying my first laptop in the next week or so and am alittle lost on which CPU to go for.
I was set on this one, AMD Turion 64 mobile technology MK-36 / 2 GHz 512Mb cache
But now i have seen theses 2, Intel Celeron M Processor 430 1.73GHz and Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2060 1.6GHz
Anyone give any info on how they compare ?
Laptop is going to be running vista.
Any links for CPU review sites would be good.
Thanks ben

Celeron M is just terribly slow and does not support Speedstep, that means low performance and high power consumption.
T2060 have half the cache of T2050, you may as well get a T2050 or T2300.
To Compare Core2Duo notebooks and Turion 64 notebooks it depends.
If you are planning to buy a notebook for gaming, buy a T7xxx with discrete graphics.
If you want a notebook for work, but occasionally 3D, the Turion 64 is better because the integrated graphics is a lot better than Intel's GMA950 while not using a lot more power.
If you want absolutely maximum battery life, and do not need much 3D performance, T2xxx/T7xxx is your pick.
But after all, budget is everything. Word processing doesn't need dual core, even the Celeron M is overkill.

Turions tend to run a little hotter than their intel equivalents, the T2050 or T7xxx as Arthur said would be good. If you want Aero on vista the Intel GMA graphics should be able to cope, though I would aim for 7300/x1300 or higher for the best experience.
CoreDuo (be it CD or C2D) will be quicker than the Celery, so that would be my choice. As Arthur also said, however, the Turion could be a good option :)
Really depends on budget though...

Thanks for the replies lads.
I am on a small budget, around £400-450
This is what i will be going for i think with another 512Mb RAM.

Yea that looks like a good deal, especially for the price :)
