    Abit AB9 QuadGT

Right after reading about the recent teething troubles from the commando I've decided that I'm going to start looking at the Quad gt ( also better vfm).

Right the first question I have is will I be able to use four hdd's in raid 10, then two hdds in raid 1 all sata. Then have a IDE cd drive and Ide hdd plugged in at the same time without any conflicts (BETA bios by any chance.) Will the board even do it??

And the next question can somebody tell me what actually comes with the board like how many sata cable does it use floppy disks for drivers or are they stuck on a cd??.

Oh and has anyone experienced any really bad results from it.

Thanks in advance and I know I'm asking a load of questions but I've got 14 days to decide where to spend my money.

I'm probably not the best person for this as I gave up on RAID for my use ages ago.
However, I don't think that the ICH8R can run 6 drives in RAID (even though it has 6 ports) & the 2 off the JMicron are eSATA on the back panel.

    IO plate
    1 IDE cable
    1 floppy cable
6 latching sata cables (1 end 90 degrees)
1 PCI plate with 2 USB & 2 different firewire sockets (only 1 firewire header on the mobo though)
Mobo & uGuru Manual (the mobo 1 looks unfinished - the BIOS section is only 1 page but you can downloadthe AB9/AB9 Pro manual)
    Driver/utility CD
abit now appear to have gone the way of Asus & no longer provide actual floppies but utilities on the CD to create floppies.

Oh and has anyone experienced any really bad results from it.
haven't seen anyone have really bad results but 1 guy had a bad solder joint on the JMicron so he RMAed

Don't get the commando atm cus they must be selling a bad batch, all them seem to have something wrong with them. Trust me I know. I have just recommended a friend to buy a quad gt knowing it will be good and not the commando which I own.
My commando will let me boot at pritty much any speed I want, have had my e6300 at 3.5 ghz and it had plenty more in the tank. But the temps are horrific. So go for it imo.

I'm seriously think of it No.72 but I've got to figure out the raid stuff first as I've currently got six Identical hdd's next to me for this build so I'm just trying to figure out how to use them and as Buff said the chip might no be able to raid two different arrays (still waiting for more advice) but it looks as if Ill have to stick them all in raid 5 which is a halfway solution. Now next question will this board be able to take a E6400 to the 3.2-3.8 realms with the highest fsb allowable I.E 480x7 which is what I'm hoping for, and will this ram be suitable

The board will definitely get there if the RAM can (& assuming good cooling, PSU etc.).
You're going to need RAM capable of DDR960 to hit 480fsb though & I doubt that RAM will do it.

Maybe with increased voltage and looser timings it will. Maybe it won't. Theres no guarantees.

Ok so if I jig around the budget a bit and not eat for a couple of weeks its possible I would be able to get these, would they be any better than the other ram I was going to get, and if not could someone post some suggested ram that would help more in my overclocking goals.

Yup, they should do & it's a good price for RAM of that speed.

Thanks for that No.72 will look into them, just to clarify all I've got left to buy is the mobo (Quad gt), memory (????) and cpu (E6400) everything else I've got including the kitchen sink.

Yes I've looked at the E4300 a lot, and for some reason I've always gone back to the E6400 Which is what I'm gonna stick with as I've gone through more than enough revisions of what hardware I'm going to buy, and it would be nice to have at least one major piece of hardware stuck in stone.

On a side note I'm liking the look of those Crucial Ballistix you posted, just looking for a few reviews/what other members think.

it's the yellow isn't it , be aware that it does require more volts than most. Like the g-skill hz (my RAM) it is low volts. I know on mine I can hit 800mhz 4-4-4-10 at 2.03v.

I dont know seems a choice between the crucial and ocz, power/volts wont be a problem at all for me went overkill with the power, and on a side note does anyone know if I HAVE to connect the 4 pin molex on the Quad gt if I'm running a 640mb 8800gts because if so I'm seriously stuck. I.E no more plugs.

The OCZ 6400 Plat will get to about 900 but not much more.

You also might want to look at http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/part...2KIT12864AA663 as I understand that's D9GMH as well.
