Small, quiet, capable wanted. £500 inc TFT. Ideas?

Am going to start the hunt now for the following:
    - Something small (not necessarily Mac mini, but smallish)
    - Reasonably quiet
    - Power/Speed isnt an issue, 1 Ghz+ is fine
    - that runs windows (well actually MS Word)
    - with a 17" TFT
    - for about £500 or there-abouts.

The other issue is that the people who want it don't want to buy from the internet.
Dell could be an option because of the telephone option.

    Any more ideas? PC World?

PC World - avoid like the plague.

Mesh? Evesham would be top end of your budget, I'd avoid Time/Tiny etc.

What about building them a SoA shuttle? Not exactly new tech, cheap, but runs windows/word well with 1gb RAM.

I specifically want to avoid building due to all the ongoing tech questions.... i will no doubt get some anyway, but do not want to be 24/7 tech support.

I honestly think i'm going to go Dell!
Their Dimension C521 allows me to get an Athlon X2, 1 Gig of RAM, Vista, 19" TFT, speakers etc all for £480 inc VAT and delivery.
Had a look at Scan and Mesh but they just can't match that sort of money. The Evesham is £705 for the same spec!!!!! Plus delivery!!!
A shame, but there you go...

How about the AOpen Mini-PC? Not sure about the noise levels or availability on the high-street but looks like a nice alternative to the Mac-Mini.

Thanks for that, have used ITC before too.
But the ones you linked are too expensive (dont include a monitor).
Have gone with the Dimension C521 i linked too before.

    Cheers everyone.
