    E6600 price drop

When will the E6600 start to drop in price?

When the Quad cores were released I thought we may start to see a drop, but nothing yet

That is a lot of processor for only £186.... we may not always appreciate it but we actually get great value for processing power like that at that price - top end CPUs (and RAM) are premium, but come down a few notches and the bank-for-buck increases dramatically.

I just RMA'd some Corsair TwinX XMS 3200LL CAS2 Platinum (2* 512) that when I bought it nearly 4 years ago was well over £320 - now it is £85 from SCAN.

Yet we complain about high memory prices.....
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

well better get good memory than crappy memory, also i'd get 4gigs, since they are so cheap now plus vista uses alot of ram.

April 22nd. Will come down to the same price as the current E6400 - about £120-130 + VAT.

Why the 22nd April - is it the newer cores out from Intel?

Cheaper (but still out of my price range) Quad Core at slightly lower clock. And the dual core E6300/6400 will gain 4 MB of cache (i.e. same as E6600, etc.)

Remember though that Vista 32 bit can only [I]address[I] 4GB, so even though you can whack 4 in, it may only actually show 2.75-3.4 depending on your setup.

Except that it runs like a dog and there's limited driver and software support.
