I might go for 4ghz but I would rather have some water cooling
first. I would rather get a new GFX card first, then will start looking at water cooling. I think I will have to get some in summer otherwise idel temps will be silly.
now if somebody would give me free water cooling then I would go for 4ghz plus.

umm in BIOS I thing v core was 1.45
RAM is set to 2.075 as it seems to run more stable. But if I lower the v core one or two settings more orthos just fails .
But I have to say it is better. I am sure it would all be fine with water.

Thats why I was asking. I think you should be able to go a bit higher with water, and the temps will definately be better, but dont get rubbish watercooling, or it wont be any better than your decent air cooling.

true, I remember you giving me that tip before when I was sorting out my pc spec . I dont have a job atm so no money
I like the look of that zalaman one but it's £200!
what is the least you could get a way with paying, for fairly good water cooling (not really bothered in GFX water cooling), or is it really what you get is what you pay for?

Probably the minimum that I would recommend is one of those swiftech kits with the apogee. You can go with seperates, but theyre not really cheap. Second hand maybe?

I decided to stick with the shipping bios as well, can always upgrade later, but it seems to be stable enough. Ive only had a couple of hard lockups where a cmos clear is needed, but the thing is, the P5B wouldnt have crumbled as easily as this does with a bad overclcock.

It locked up with 3-3-3-4 @ 410 @ 2.4v It also locks up when you do a bad cpu overclock, something that the other commandos didnt do (much), but saying that, I flashed straight to the new bios with the others.

1 thinkg i have noticed with this bios, don't know if it's a general ami thing, but the award bios always gave confirmation that dmi pool had been successfully updated. When hardware was added changed, if u didn't see the message it was worth reposting & it genarally found it & all was well. This board sometimes seems to struggle , i had to clear cmos last night after adding my new drives, that should have been straight forward.

I've been running with my usb drive in my front usb port, but it blocks access to the other port. As i sometimes need both ports i put the usb drive in my monitor usb port. Booted fine yesterday. Hung at detecting usb hubs this am. Unplugged usbpen rebooted fine. So what's changed. ??? everything is the same???

Like u say i think the bios/dmi can be a bit skittish

It is weird, I ran orthos overnight (posted the screenies in the other thread), and when I rebooted, it hung and required a cmos clear.
