    asus a7v8x-x and barton 2500+

    Hi,

AFIAK, A7V8X only support 333FSB so I wonder if I can overclock the XP to 3200+ using 200fsb on this board? I have a gig of PC3200 RAM to go with it.

    Thank guys,

What are your Voltage settings and which Ram are you using? With the same board and an XP2600+ I find that anything higher than stock causes a reboot and it often hangs when running a scheduledd scan.

i dont know much about the voltage setting, just using the default. The ram is PC3200 twinmos so I think they should do fine.

Barry, are u sure u can use 200fsb as the board is only capable of 166fsb?

Just a question, why do you have TwinMOS on a single channel DDr board? Did you buy that kit from Komplett?

i bought twinmos since it is the cheapest pc3200 modules that I can get hold of. I bought it from ebuyer.com.

McMav, what is PCI divider and why not having it is bad?

If you set the fsb to high the pci frequency gets upped aswell if it goes to high you can corrupt HDD and the like. Nforce boards and others have the ability to lower the PCI bus even with high fsb on cpu. kt400 boards dont.

Yes, it supports DDR 400 but no, it doesn't officially support 400FSB for the CPU etc.
Confusing?- yup, blame VIA & their KT400.

Just checking, cos Komplett were doing an offer with a "dual-channel" board and I bought it and it turned out to be this one, I insisted then on the deluxe model which is a step up from this, I am sure a lot of people got caught out though. The board will support 400FSB.
