I'm no expert but heres what I have discovered :
Eve dates back to 2003/4 and is presumably based on quite an old graphics engine, it ran perfectly on my Vista laptop with an X1700 gfx card which had no OpenGL support.
Eve runs great on the laptop which is a Core 2 duo T7200 (2 Ghz) at 1024 x 800. My desktop runs it great too (specs in my sig)
Don't think the hardware requirements are that tough and it is relatively resilient on the network side, you are *supposed* to be able to run it on a 56k modem!

The minimum screen resolution for EVE is 1024x768.
Audio hardware must be Direct Sound compatible. For optimum performance, use latest drivers available.
