If you don't ask questions you don't get to find out the answer

Flibb, how many times have you seen a Sukhoi perform a Kobra when carrying a weapon payload?

The Kobra isn't for chucking missiles backwards, it's for slowing down stupidly quickly, like one huge airbrake, and even then it's a risky maneuver.

tsk, if you want to slow down quickly and effectively in air combat then just pop the air brakes - they'll fly right by

The Russians dont seem to agree

SU is ment to have pulled a cobra with full weapons and fuel load out, cant confirm that. But have read report from Mig vs F16s combat simulation after German unification. They used the same technology as topgun to confirm kills, the ability of the Mig 29 to pull extreme AoA, and its helmet mounted sight (similar to the apache), allowed them to come out ahead in the rankings. Problem with the 29 is its low fuel payload, SU does not have this problem.
