nice one guys. You're both getting quite quite good.

Gerrards sussed landings, plain and simply, thats the way to points.

Nick's good, and gets into the thick of it with no hesitation, though he did "buy the farm" a few times,

How you both getting on with the principles in those videos?

Interesting. The one with the Mustang trying to out stall the 109 seemed rather risky as surely the 109 could have got a few rounds off whilst stuck behind him going in a straight line?
The rolls the Phantom does look interesting, but not sure whether WWII would have enough energy to do those without losing a lot of height in the process. The communication between the wingmen seemed very good and well coordinated.

true...and its important...BECAUSE you mustn't do it when you try to escape UNLESS you know you have more energy. The old boy knows he got lucky.
Now climbing in a straight line, in a faster plane is good but not to roll over the top or go vertical....just to out climb. Last night, Nick was in a 109 and the AI was in a 153, and to out run it is easy...but not by climbing too steeply......accelrate....zoom climb.....level off ....accelratate....etc.

Gerrard, the enrgy of those jets is irrelevent. You can do those moanuvres in a prop plane...because energy is RELEVENT. And your opponent has a relevent amount of E too.

And WW2 fighters turn much bettet than those ugly jets

Does anyone remember a thread in here that had someone explaining Rope a Dope?

You go nose to nose with someone....as you pass, you look over your shoulder and IF he starts to turn, you climb.

He loses E by scrubbing off speed in his turn..you keep your E by climbing and trading speed for height....he then tries to climb to get you..and finds he stalls out near the top.

You then drop on him. It's similar, but it is risky unless you know his closing speed to yours...ie will you end up considerably higher?

just had a flight on a decent dog fight server....

    gerrard hammered my score

i would have got around 300 if i didnt crash into a hanger on landing after getting a rather nice kill on a boat on an air craft carrier

though i was being chased by a seafire, who was shooting at me, blowing holes in me, killing my rear gunner...

then just as he was about to go in for the kill...he ran out of ammo, but he then decided to follow me back to base, weaving in and out of me

at one time i thought he was deliberately going to crash into me...was a bit of a near miss, sadly i couldn't take advantage of the few times he appeared infront of me, as i was in a beaufighter with a broken tail fin and two skoking engines

though i did give a few shots a go, and i think that must have scatred him a bit as he left me alone after that, only for me to go and crash/land into a hanger

I was just hitting and running in my A20 . That aircraft is fast, can carry a decent load of bombs, take a few hits and the 2 gunners make it real difficult for fighters.
Ships are worth a fair few points (200+) and relatively easy for me to bomb, so was just going after them. Any planes that my gunners shot down were a bonus . Only got shot down once, and accidently flew into a balloon whilst avoiding a fighter. Was very pleased at managing to bomb a trailing fighter by accident. Flew over a ship and dropped a couple of 300lb's with 3 seconds delay timer. He was chasing me and flew over just as they exploded! I'll have to remeber that tactic if I happen to have some bombs and am getting chased again.

Ahhh, if I had known I wouldn't have bothered flying so evasively I had 2 or 3 on my tail at one point whilst flying home. Didn't realise until 2 messages saying I had shot them down appeared!

Actually, I was battering that BS in the river with 500lb bombs and it still wouldn't die, so before going back tried taking out a couple balloons for some points.

    guys...if you're doing ships....use TORPEDOS

I love them: go out miles....come in in line, and then let them go....and watch them as they cut through the water at surface depth.

You can see them running...its ace

Torp's also explode on the ground quite well
