Yep, i'm enjoying this series as its tending to cover things with slightly rounder setup. I've found the additional information with the maps really interesting. Especially the view from the hill in this one really cool.

Good overviews and the Korean war one should be good next week. I don't know very much about the Korean War and these programs give a good background as well as info about the specific battle.

Indeed. The battle of Middway one last week covered both side very well, not making it into the usual "yanks are the greatest" type thing that a lot historical programmes tend to do.

Good episode last night, intersting seeing the area where it hapened on film, rather than maps or photos. Can highly recommend the book Stalingrad by Antony Beevor, fleshes out the story a lot.

Thanks for the recommendation, I need a new book as I'm away on holiday the week after next and I have nearly finished Tommy by Richard Holmes. Great book, although you can't sit there are read a massive amount in one go, to much to take.

His "Berlin" is also a cracking read. I need to get hold of "Stalingrad" though.. and I missed Monday night. Bugger

I wouldn't take Stalingrad on holiday with you. Its a great book (as is "Berlin") but it really is quite harrowing and depressing
