Yeah, they're worth like 780m now, for a new player that is a **** ton of ISK!

If you join up and enter the channel "Ekchuah Public" I am sure some of us can help you if you need it. I may have forgotten more than I remember, but I will help any way I can.

Ah OK I signed up already. I've just been following the tutorials, so far so good. I'll get my 14 days out of this trial and have a jolly good experiment and fiddle around. If I like this - I'll sign up using agents link and crack on for real. Cheers Agent that's very kind of you.

Cheers Allen I'll be sure to pop in!.

    Re: EVE-Online

I think it's about time I start looking for a corp, been in the newbie one far too long now (743 days) and I am getting bored.

The thing is, I don't know where to look for one. The Eve forums are just inundated with like a billion different corps and it's so hard to know if they are a good corp or not, without joining each one I come across until I find a good one, and that will just make me look like a corp hopper.

I wouldn't mind going back to null, despite previous alliance BS problems, because I think it was the most fun I have had in Eve. Maybe I should look at joining a reasonably large and well established nullsec corp but I have been out of that for so long the only ones I know of (apart from Goons and FCON) aren't around any more. I hear a lot about PL being good at PvP but I am guessing they will be hard to get in to, especially as my time online won't be dictated by the corp and I am not what you would call an active PvP'er right now.

I would like somewhere nice I can call home, start farming some serious ISK (all I hear about is how people making 100's of millions and I make sod all running L4's in hisec), partake in some decent PvP and make my way up to capitals (despite having 41m SP I still can't get in anything bigger than an Orca).

Anyone got any ideas where I can look?

BTW, Butuz, how is your trial going? Did you sub? How's everything going?

    Re: EVE-Online

I did have a look at the Brave Newbies, but as a player from 2011 and with 41m SP I thought they wouldn't accept me as a "newbie".

Are you part of them? I will have another look later when I am less busy.

    Re: EVE-Online

Allen I could suggest Faction Warfare PVP and farm LPs to buy Faction BS or Blueprints etc? I'll be getting both my pilots to join FW and soak up some LPs.

    Re: EVE-Online

Hmm, last time I tried FW, I undocked, shot at a red flashy, and was instantly harassed by half the system for shooting a "friendly". Obviously an overview issue, but I don't trust myself.

Plus, I had a look at the FW rewards, I don't understand it. Most items cost huge amounts of LP and ISK, and sell on the market for little more than the ISK you have to pay (unless I was looking at the wrong stuff).

Also, it didn't seem very organised. I had no idea where to go, who to group up with, and often found myself alone in losec systems with no friendlies around. Luckily I was in a ship capable of cloaking, otherwise I am sure I would've died very quickly.

I was in Imperial Republic of the north

They were friendly, they'd love you, don't know what happened to them. We put up the station just north of EC in VFK though. It's a brilliant piece of nullsec, go visit sometime!

PS don't jump into EC alone though .....

I guess having dual monitors makes FW easy. For me anyways.

Did it with my alt couple years back, orbited sites in quiet systems and was on Xbox on other monitor. Watched tv etc.

    Re: EVE-Online

One of my alts is in BNI, but he's playing skill queue online rather than Eve. They'll take pretty much anybody, it started as a newbie friendly corp and has sorta lost that to some degree over time as it became part of an alliance and then a coalition.

BNI would be one of my three suggestions for people looking for their first corporation, with Eve Uni and RvB being the other two. Eve Uni is for the real beginners, they'll teach you the basics and their knowledge base is pretty much second to none. RvB will teach you PvP in a controlled way, although it can be a bit too sterile for some people. BNI is pretty much "this is null-sec, fight" with people who'll help if you ask (nicely).

    Re: EVE-Online

I joined BNI on Saturday and I am not regretting it so far!

OK, so they aren't the most organised in fleets (Mumble is full of people messing around shouting "SPAI!" over and over, people don't listen to the FC, talking over scouts shouting "break break", playing Mario themed music etc), but it is at least fun. They have almost no control over their main hub GE-8, gates are camped by enemy fleets most of the time until the GE-8 defence fleet roams around mopping them up, so I have no idea how they have kept the region for so long.

However, people are mostly very helpful and friendly, and I have got my first kills in Eve since April 2012! https://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail...708&m=9&y=2014

I also had a couple of losses, a pod due to stupidity in not checking intel, a Crow due to stupidity again (I warped to a corp made bookmark 200km above a gate being camped by a load of Imperial Navy Slicer's, 2 of which warped on top of me before I could react... so that teaches me not to use corp made BM's as they are all BM'd by enemies/SPAIS) and a Moa during the GE-8 defence fleet. Got a killing blow on a HIC though!

My biggest worry now though is making enough ISK to fuel the non-SRP fleet losses. All my skills and knowledge are based around Caldari vs Guristas, now I am suddenly fighting Sansha's. It's all well and good just swapping tank modules to EM and missiles to Mjolnir's, but the Caldari ships I am used to using receive bonuses to kinetic damage, so I don't know if it's best to do EM damage, ignore more resists and lose the bonus, or use Kinetic, have more resists but get the bonus. I tried both options on an anom quickly and I couldn't break the tanks of some of the ships with either set up.

I can use a few Amarr ships but my skills in them will be really lacking. What I need is a ship that uses missiles and has a boost to EM damage, but doesn't cost the earth (I have already lost about 70m in ships and clone fee's, running low on ISKies).

Any ideas what I can do that doesn't involve a hisec alt or industry skills?

    Re: EVE-Online

I know you mention about the hi-sec alt, wouldn't it be easy to farm anoms with a friend or do missions with a friend in hi-sec by jump cloning?

I made my forune on Blink, so witting with nearly 30b in assets lol. Investing heavily in BPOs.
