    Re: EVE-Online

Well gutted, got ganked last night, I was watching local and keeping an eye out whilst ratting, some guy with a positive rating warped to the belt I was at, targetted me and webbed me before I could warp away, then he tanked my dps whilst 2 of his mates turned up and battered me!

Oh well, it's part of the game, and I was totally not setup for PvP... luckily, I got away before they could pod me, would've been gutted if I had lost my implants!

    Re: EVE-Online

Yeah, I had an unlucky experience yesterday as well when my Covetor got blown up (can fly a Hulk, just don't have one handy...). Decided to do some mining as there was only me and another person in the system (blue) and he was ratting everything. Just as I undock and start warping away a hostile enters local. Can't stop now as I'm in warp. As I leave warp at a belt, he turns up in a Crow (there's 8 belts in this system and he just happened to go to the same one as me first ). Of course, he tackles me and my drones can't catch him (Hobs aren't exactly slow either), so had to eject (figured more likely to escape than waiting to be blown up) and run to the station. Of crouse, I go to the wrong station with none of my ships in it, so couldn't go and get my revenge! Still, at least I got to escape in my pod.

    Re: EVE-Online

I've reactivated 2 of my old accounts and I have to say I'm enjoying it so far. Only doing a bit of mining and mission running (level 1!) in Empire but I'm having a blast.
I just love the fact that no matter how much I read guides or help on forums I still feel like a total noob and I've been playing on/off for a number of years now.

I would say to anyone thinking of starting the trial to give it time as its a REAL slow burner. I guess at my age I like the slow gameplay and also the depth of thought that has to go into some aspects of the game.

    Re: EVE-Online

We just got wardec'd. Some small merc/pirate corp thinking we will pay them 250mil to leave us alone. I think not.

We have some nasty surprises waiting for them

    Re: EVE-Online

I'm thinking of joining "noob mercs" with my Minnie alt. They sound like a right laugh! They're basically all PvP noobs and alts with really low SP who get paid to take out certain targets (like any other merc would), however, they go round in groups of 50+ frigs hunting down their prey and then turn up en masse and slowly gank their targets with a HUGE loss ratio!

Either that or I might try and join a more serious PvP corp who control an area of nonsec so I can enjoy more of the game, group up with some real PvP'ers and have some fun learning the ropes.

Seen this post in the recruitment forum and thought it was a neat idea EVE Online | EVE Insider | Forums

Basically it's two corps (Red & Blue), permanently war decced, with people join it wanting to fight. Sounds good fun to me and it's a corp you can join and leave at anytime. May be worth checking out.

I'm in that on Blue at the moment, although I'm taking a timeout because I went through ISK like I've never done before and can't afford to lose my raven

Yeah, read into that, but highsec PvP is a completely different story to low or nullsec. You're still safe flying around in highsec from everyone else that isn't in the opposite team, but in low or nullsec you have to be aware of everyone, constantly check local and the scanner...

    Re: EVE-Online

I decided to "check out" low sec space.

    Well that went well.....

At least I had 100% insurance

Just wondering though, I'm doing L3 agents atm in a caracal. I was just chatting with a mate and he simply didn't believe me. They are taking ages with plenty of warping in and out.
Thing is, I'm a bit of a way off my next ship (looking at the Drake) so it will have to do for now (although I just lost it as above, I'll be re-buying it later on) but is there any ways I'm missing to boost my cash flow?

Current I'm running missions and salvaging. Any suggestions?

    Re: EVE-Online

In highsec getting a drake soon would be good, you'll go through L3's in no time. Then onto a Raven if you're sticking to missions for income. Missions+salvage is one of the easiest ways to make money. Just make sure you get a good price on what you're selling.

I have a drake you can have if you're willing to go collect it. Might even be fitted still(probably with whatever happened to be in that station), was only bought to clear one complex, now sitting a ridiculous amount of jumps from me, so I'll never go collect it (I can make more than it's worth in the time it would take to go get it). It's in Amarr highsec, gimme a poke in game if you want it.

In other news the enemy surrendered the other day Once we got organised they simply couldn't stand up to our fleets so ended up staying docked. They never seemd to be able to field more than a 5 man fleet despite being the same size as us. Our were usually 10-15 and battleship heavy.

Thanks to this we had the entire pipeline leading to our HQ locked down and safe for our miners and missioners.

    Re: EVE-Online

I was hoping there was a quicker way to make some cash, oh well

My current plan: Buy a drake and get some cash behind me with L3 missions. Once done, buy a destroyer and turn it into a salvage rig to speed the salvaging up. That sound about right?

I'm in Amarr hi-sec atm Mr Chuckskull. I've just had my insurance payout which will only get spent on a new ship, so I'd more than happily give you what I have towards it if you're going to sell it (Although 10m of this is still yours )

What system are you/your corp based in?

We're based in Ibura, about 25 jumps from amarr, about as far north as you can get in empire. The drake is in Nidupad. Don't worry about the money been trying to give this drake away to corp members for weeks I'll contract it to you in a sec.

Once you get onto L4's you can make 100mil on a good day without spending all day staring at the comp.

Edit: D'oh one of the drones is damaged and stopping the contract. Will get an alt to sort it or something.

    Re: EVE-Online

I'd rather you have something on principle to be honest. You've been more than generous and I feel a guilty as it is.

L4's ? I'm trying not to think about those at the moment. L3 has been hell so far

I seem to be in the middle of nowhere currently, I just went for the first L3 agent that appeared - probably not the wisest move. I think of going to finish this series of missions (4 out of 7, typical!), then look at moving somewhere with more people. Even equipment is hard/expensive to get here.

Whats your corp into mainly? Everyone seems to be up north that I know on the forums / IRL That and I always seem to be on the opposite 'side' to them

    Re: EVE-Online

I'm in a good mood. Got a nice new monitor(Eve looks glorious at 1680x1050), the war is won and I just got a 200mil module drop off a rat Enjoy it while it lasts. I don't mind you owing me one.

The corp is mainly "carebearing" at the moment. Which amounts to missions and mining. Building up a nice pot of isk. We have the occasional PVP op, might be a while before the next had plenty for now. Lots of mining and mission ops.

As for oop north in eve. Lonetrek is one of the busiest regions in the game. No shortage of modules here and we're 10jumps out of jita, which is useful for shifting bulk things quickly or getting a bargain. Behind us is EC-P8R, which is 0.0 and one of the most dangerous gates in eve. Which means during war we generally only have enemy coming from the pipeline, so easily defensible.
