Interesting little clip there Jay, the Youtube link doesn't do it justice at all, and (sorry) I couldn't be bothered to d/l the full clip, although I'm sure it's much better!

Hmm, this I have to disagree with to a certain extent. Many, many people in EVE do not tolerate players of other games, especially WoW. If you say you play (or have even played) WoW half the people in the channel will start insulting you heavily which I think is extremely elitist of them. I would love to say it's a minority but I see it too much to believe that.
Yes, WoW is an "easy" MMO and EVE has a massive learning curve, but that in no way makes EVE players better than WoW players and it doesn't give them the right to criticize other gamers for their choice in games.
Other than that, I see no difference between the WoW and EVE community (never played LoTR). Take today for example, patch day. Didn't happen often in WoW, hardly see it in EVE either. However, for this ONE day a month, or however often, everyone starts crying that the servers aren't back up within their ETA (which is an estimate, some people seem to misunderstand that). You get bitching, whining, ganking and insulting in both communities and I see as much of it in EVE as I did in WoW, obviosuly within proportion (there's a much bigger WoW community so you're going to see more of it).
Anyhow, don't let that put you off EVE if you're reading this and thinking of playing, it's a great game, I'm just saying expect the good, the bad and the ugly in almost all gaming communities.
Yes but I have to say that WoW was full of 13 year old kids messing around. Thats how I found it anyway and waiting to login in a que was stupid.

from a purely professional stand point...
/dons his flame proof suit
/stands by his trusty Yak9 with his CoD4 gear on too...
EVE is the worst game I've "tried" to play for years. Rude players, constant spam, no instructions to speak of, and endless endless repetition.
But I must be blinkered...cos you lot like it!
When I first joined Lineage 2 I got TONS of help from people I'd never met before. This is virtually the opposite in EVE.
Lineage had a sensible learning curve. EVE's is virtually un heard of. IL-2 is a hard game to learn....but you can learn it on your own. EVE is impossible.
It bored me, I tried soooo hard cos Dakky and my mate Bishops Finger were into it...but god I was bored.
Bored bored bored bored.....bored.
It looked pretty...it sounded ok too. But MAN it was dull.....

EVE is just hard, the in game tutorials are much better these days. I found the community very good, my mates just started and BBK have taken him under their wing to help him. Maybe I have been lucky with the people I meet. Also I have had no spam for months now. A lot has changed in EVE.
I gave up once as well, my first character was jaythebat. I came back twelve months ago and it was like a different game!

Yeah, it has totally changed from when I first tried it about 4 years ago... It still has a huge learning curve, but I must admit it is easier to make ISK and upgrade ships etc that what it was before.
Take today for instance, I did a level 1 mission with my new Caldari guy (hated the name Guapo and he only had like 2.5m SP so easy to catch up on) and all I have done is given him a well fitted out Kessie that I can't fly fully at the moment anyway, literally just 4 missile launchers and a shield booster at the moment. So I jump into this deadspace zone and there's a Gallente station. I go near it and the guy I need to kill spawns. I kill him with one barrage of Bloodclaw's and another few ships appear. I kill them easily with 1 missile each. Then I'm having a look at this Gallente station and I notice the core part says something like "Gallente Control Tower strong_good_loot" or something like that, and the "good_loot" part intrigued me.
About 200 missiles later it explodes in one of the BEST in game explosions I've ever seen and I quickly check out the cargo containt left in it's place. There was loads of Hydrogen Isotopes (102k), loads of Coolant (2.4m) and a 12th Tier Overseers Personal Effects (8.9m). Not bad for a level 1 mission!
The coolant took ages to collect in my Kessie, about 15-20 runs. I missed out on the 20k bonus but got 2.4m for the extra loot!
Havent read this thread in ages Sorry
Well few of us moved into AAS which is gallente 0.0 I would be there now but 1&! the morons have locked my email in error and no plonker will turn it back on as my bill showing unpaid (It isnt btw) so my lastest time card is locked away and i cant play glad Ive got a long skill training.
However just wanted to comment on the PVP aspect I agree that a lot of the time its gang v gang however most evenings Ive being able to find targets solo ratting in 0.0 Of course getting in scram range before they warp out is a whole different thing. But a few of my solo kills for your delight
Most people seem to avoid fighting drakes but i quite like them

As ever the offer stands for anyone looking to join a small friendly corp which is blue to most in a system in 0.0 feel free to message me in game.
As our CEO has gone AWOL now for several months we may be liquidating the current corp and reforming.
Some nice killmails you got there.
If I wasn't such a carebare, that would sound quite interesting Dak. Although, I have always wanted to try the 0.0 PvP Corp thing but not sure if it's my kind of thing yet... All PvP experiences I've had so far have been me getting pwned in the face till I'm dead, not exactly fun, so I steer clear of 0.4 and below now.
Finally got my alt some Salvagers on her Dessie, only about 1d training and I'll have Tractor's too! Now I can do lvl 1's in my Kessie with my alt trailing behind in her Dessie scooping up the loot and salvaging the wrecks. Should be a nice money making team!
I'll be doing lvl 1's for a few weeks, getting easy money and boosting my engineering, electronics, missile operation and navigation skills, then I'll get the skills to fly my Caracel setup which is pretty powerful to easily handle the 2's!
Well, it appears you are not alone....
Zero Punctuation: Eve Online
I can understand what you're saying. I haven't played for a couple of months now. I've only been on every now and again to change skills. But then, I have played this game on and off for the last 2 years; it seems almost cyclic. The fact I actually still gain strength even when not playing is quite good.
I think the big thing is getting in with a good group of people. I stopped playing because our corp was pretty much empty and nothing was happening other than getting shot at all the time. Sounds like things are a little different now, but I'm currently busy with other stuff.
As for rude people and spam, it is purely down to being in the beginner corps. When I was in CAS (science based), it seemed a lot more polite than the war based ones. However, you still get the damn spamming.
I don't have a shoe on my head... thats where I have been going wrong. Right, where are my shoes?

Yep Gerrard you slot is always open and we have gone down the route of getting people that want to play together so although small with a few of the RASA chaps and the fact 3 of us based in same system in 0.0 with Yan and Tk returning at end of sept its getting fun again
Holy crap, what a day. Learnt Caldari Cruisers II overnight so I could climb into my Caracel this morning with loads of nice named modules, sadly I didn't have the skills to fit my shield hardeners so used shield resistance amps instead. Anyway, also managed to get the standings to start using level 2 agents, so hopped over to my new agent and picked up my first level 2 mission..... Blockade.
Blimey, even with a good cruiser and nice equipment it was a challenge! I didn't realise the time though, and after about 30-40 mins of clearing increasingly harder NPC's, the server went down for maintenance! When it came back up I had to do the whole thing again... ouch!
Still, managed to bag me about ~2m just in bounties, ~500k from the mission reward and loads of loot and salvaged modules (loving my alt with 4 tractors and 4 salvagers on a Cormorant).
Am almost up to 200m now, only ~120 of which comes from my older characters, so nicely earning money and self sufficient. Gonna stick with my Caracel for a while whilst doing level 2's, boost my ship flying and missile skills and see how it goes.
Still looking for a corp though, been keeping an eye on the corp forum but they're all PvP corps or industrial corps that want people with 5m+ SP...
