Yeah BBK is a lot busier during American prime time now. We've also joined a mainly America alliance. Not a massive problem for me, as I play late night. Can see how it would be boring in the days though.

If any of you are in a UK based corp and wants to help us balance our timezones, do let me know

    Re: EVE-Online

I did that 5 day reactivation thing on my accounts. Trying to see if I can get back into it, if I can I'll resub in the new year. The game seems a lot smoother when running two clients now, less lag between the two.

As I said above though, the biggest problem is finding a corp that I will fit in to. I've stumbles across UARM (Universal Army) though, seems like a good bunch, UK/EU based, member of a 0.0 Alliance and have been going for 5 years, so they must be doing something right! Anyone ever heard of them? Might contact them if I resub.

I play World of Warcraft, and always have. I was wondering how does EvE compare to WoW? Graphics wise/gameplay wise/etc. What are your views on this?

    Re: EVE-Online

EVE graphics are better than WoW graphics, however, apart from ships, stations and gates there really isn't much else in EVE that can look good. Space is space really, pretty empty... WoW graphics are much more basic and cartoon-like, but I like them. It wouldn't be WoW if the graphics were made more realistic. The release of WotLK did upgrade the graphics a bit, it now has better shadows and more options, but it's still basic and cartoony. Also, WoW has a fully customisable UI whereas EVE doesn't have anything at all apart from being able to move windows and change the colour.

Gameplay wise, well, PvE in EVE you can sit back, relax and look at the screen every couple of minutes if you want to play like that. PvP you can't let your eyes leave the screen if you are in dangerous systems (constantly watching local for example). PvE in WoW needs more attention than EVE unless you are traveling a long distance. PvP in WoW requires the same attention as EVE, but there is a little less worry about losing, if you die you lose no money, no equipment and just respawn, if you die in EVE you lose your ship, it's equipment, it's cargo, and if you get podded, any implants you have.

The biggest differences are WoW has levels (1-80) and you NEED to play with other people to get better gear, be it doing heroic instances or raids, EVE has skill points which increase even if you are offline and you CAN play solo if you want, although it gets kinda boring, and you can mine, mission run or trade to make the money to buy the new equipment you want. And of course, EVE is all on one "realm" where as WoW has loads of realms with varying levels of players on them, from dead realms to very busy and fast progressing realms.

Something you didn't ask about but I will pass comment on anyway as I play both games and am part of both communities, WoW forums are full of immature people who will boast about how great they are according to their gear, raid progress, accomplishments and PvP rewards, EVE forums are full of people who will mostly flame you for asking questions and being a new player and also have a feeling of grandeur over any other MMO player, especially WoW players. This of course only counts for a small part of the people that play the game, but if you look at the forums of both games you will see what I mean.

Hope this helps in some way.

If you want a TLDR version, see kalniel's response above. Lol!

No offense to narge, but I think it's too amatuerish to be a deliberately dodgy site, but he should certainly spend more time joining in the Hexus community if he doesn't want to appear like a flyby

    Re: EVE-Online

I am really tempted to go back to EVE. When I left WoW I moved to EVE and loved it but then I was with American Corps and as said it was dead during the days so I lost interest. Currently playing Warhammer Online but that is suffering sub issue's like no tomorrow and players dropping like flies leaving the servers very empty. Just got an email for a 10 day re-activation free of charge so I could be very tempted to jump back into EVE and forget WAR for now.

Just a comment on this, Eve is full of helpful people (and ofc a share of scammers too) and even has organisations specifically to help and train new players (shameless plug for my Corp Eve University and Ivy League)

On the subject of maturity and behaviour of players, I have never played WoW but believe it is heavily populated by young(er) people which may or may not be a good thing depending on your outlook. A recent Ivy Survey with a sample of over 300 people showed that the average age in our Corp was over 30 years old and the largest segment being 30-37.

No offense taken kalniel, it is a work in progress... the back database works for finding blueprints. just need to make a new front end for it.

i understand that people could be skeptical that it looks dodgy. so i guess i gotta work on that next...

    any ideas?

that is EXACTLY what I found.... and the game was so bloody hard to understand with no one to help, and only grief when I asked... I gave up.

Prolly No 1 good decision of 2008
