Nope, haven't done any missions for Sisters of Eve Corp, don't even have any standings with the Sisters of Eve Faction...
As I said, I've only been doing missions with Caldari Navy and Amarr Navy, my standings with them are 3.35 and 3.41 respectively. Few more weeks and I should be able to participate in level 4's!
Only have 3.4m SP though, mostly in Drones (510k), Engineering (327k), Learning (950k), Missile Launcher Operation (1.1m) and Spaceship Command (307k). Will that be OK?
That will be fine! You can take part in lvl 5's if you want to fleet up but you will probably be too busy killing 1M ISK rats and other cool stuff that takes place in 0.0

I normally go out with others to rat. Its a bit safer and the rats use ECM so its best to have a couple of BC together to take them. They also camp the gates so that's another thing about 0.0 that can be fun and dangerious, It keeps you on your toes.

I played Eve a few years ago, not as addicted as some but did enjoy it. Last night I reactivated my account to have a look at whats changed, and the answer is quiet a bit. Anybody seen an up to date guide for starting from scratch? My old char was a bit mixed up dso going to start a new one but could do with some pointers. Ive installed evemon but never really got my head around the best outfits for a ship, so pointers on race, ships, weapons, etc would be handy.
Cheers
it all depends what you want to do really. Do you want to mine, produce, PvE , PVP etc
Drones:
Memory - Perception
Electronics:
Intelligence - Memory
Engineering:
Intelligence - Memory
Gunnery:
Gunnery is slightly different. Unlike the other skill areas Gunnery has skills which can be either perception or willpower as primary attribute and vice versa. Perception is probably more important however.
Industry:
Memory - Intelligence
Leadership:
Willpower - Charisma
Learning:
Memory - Intelligence
Mechanic:
Intelligence - Memory
Navigation:
Intelligence - Perception
Science:
Intelligence - Memory
Social:
Charisma - Intelligence
Spaceship Command:
Perception - Willpower
Trade:
Willpower - Charisma

Yeah, as per the above, it's normally recommended to get the highest stats possible from the start in Perception and Willpower if you want to create a fighter character or Intelligence and Memory if you want to create an industrialist character. Normally Charisma is ignored as it's barely used in many skills and you can get other Social skills to boost standings from missions etc. There's some good threads about it on the official forums (http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingamebo...hreadID=472543 & http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingamebo...hreadID=497297 for example).
Personally I created a fighter character and an industrialist alt on 2 different accounts. That way I can fly them together and use the alt to grab loot and salvage wrecks without the need of going back in another ship after completing a mission. Saves me time and get more ISK/hour but at the cost of 2 subscriptions a month. I can then concentrate on fighting skills on my main and mining/refining/manufacturing/research skills on my alt.
Personally, I would try and go for starting attributes of: -
PER: 10
MEM: 9
INT: 9
WIL: 8
CHA: 3
Of course, you would only be able to get those stats with one or two race choices, but it does sum up what I think is the appropriate importance of the attributes. Willpower is used mainly as a secondary skill, which I was I put slightly less emphasis on it. Charisma is pretty much pointless for most of the time.
I'm not sure, but I think I would stay away from Caldari as there was quite a heavy missile nerf recently (their main weapon). Agent can tell you how effective they are now. They do make good tanks though.
Of course, you can feel free to do what you enjoy in Eve, but when it comes to making money, their are 2 main ways; combat and mining. Mining can take some training and a little time and investment before making anything serious, but can be done in the background without much input if you like.
Combat comes in 2 forms; ratting and missioning. Rats are NPC ships; either as a homage to Everquest (although I guess MOBs would be more appropriate) or because they're piRATes. Again, at the start, ratting isn't that great and doesn't scale very well (you have to go to the more dangerous "lo-sec"/free-for-all PvP to get the bigger, more expensive rats)
I personally prefer missioning. It scales quite well, is a guaranteed income (it's a "private" instance, sort of), increases standing with NPC corps and gain Loyalty Points with them, which can be traded for bonus items. The standings help gain access to better, more lucrative missions, but also has secondary effects of less tax at the stations and access to Jump Clones (trust me, they're handy to have later on).
The missions are a bit more risky at first until you get better ships/weaponary and a bit more involved. Time (as little as a week or two) can overcome that problem, and experience will also help. You get money from killing rats, from completing the mission, and a bonus if done within a certain time (usually is by a long way). You can then loot them and salvage them which will also generate an income.
Not sure the best race/profession as they've changed it a lot since I began. I think the best choices are having Frigate lvl5, small guns (of the appropriate race) lvl5 or having electronics and engineering at lvl5 at the start. I think it would just come down to personal choice.
As the chaps in EKCHU have already said all Hexites welcome to try us out
And plenty of help on hand.
Just be ready to loose a lot of ships if u come hunting with meIve yet to learn how to run away

I was quiet happy playing Caldari last time and have just started another one, probably be rat hunting again this time. Ive just installed Eve Fitting Tool so trying to sort out some basic load outs, any pointers for a good site for weapons info or ship load outs? What I really need to know is whether the more expensive versions of guns are worth saving for? Got the option of various blasters or railguns, just a bit stuck on which to buy. Outfit is for the Condor I just got from a mission, 2 x std missiles, then a spare slot for a hybrid turret. I do have an excess of cash from my old cha, sold his kit to fund this one.
Up for joing a corp, and quiet happy to lose ships. I made a lot of isk last time mining or grabbing debri from dangerous space. Lost loads of ships but more than paid for them.
Hi Flibb - Battleclinic is what I use and it is integrated into Evemon the skills planning software so if you see a nice ship loadout you can plan your skills to get the same from within the app.

EDit: also if you are into missioning there is a good missions guide here http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports that can be viewed in the in-game browser as well
If you are Caldari, stick to the missile boats (Kestrel, Caracal, Drake etc). In my opinion they are very easy to fly and mission with, even with basic skills. The only problem at the start is the Kessie is pretty weak so you may have to kite the enemy ships in certain missions (flying away from them fast enough to keep them at the maximum distance your missiles will go), but the Caracal is a little bit stronger (still required some kiting in hard level 2's though)
The Drake however is an absolute tanking dream. I'm doing level 3's at the moment in one, even with only 3m SP, and I can agro a whole "room" and just laugh whilst my T2 drones take out the frigs and destroyers whilst my heavy missiles rip apart the cruisers and battle cruisers... all without going below 80-90% shields.
As for the whole buff/nerf thing Gerrard mentioned, the good thing about EVE is that if you cross train the major weapon systems you won't be badly affected by any of the balance problems. I don't know how missiles compare to others as I haven't recently used any of the other weapon systems, but they seem fine to me. With the massive shield tank and the fact I can destroy cruisers and battlecruisers in 2-4 volleys of heavy missiles, I see no problems with them at all.
Just installed eve onmy MSI wind, probably not good enough to play, but good enough to sort skills out during breaks at work![]()
I am the same, I have a laptop that can't play eve but I use it to log on, change skills, chat etc.

The Scrapheap Challenge forums are also a good source of sensible layouts. No fancy options to import plans into EVEMon like BC, but some very good conversations about setups.
