anyone else here play? I am hopefully going to renew my sub in a few days, and am in need of an outfit for vanu on werner.

but really, I just wanted to know if anyone else here plays and can perhaps tell me what has changed in the last few years.

I played it when it first came out but couldnt get into it as much as i tried. Beginning of the year tried out one of the 7day trials and got scared off very quickly with everyone with there really big guns and vehichles and I was running round with nothing once again.

odd...

one of the things I have always liked about planetside is how any complete noob can pickup a lasher or mount a tank and take our a careless br25. in other words, its the only mmo with a complete lack of grinding, and noobs don't feel left out because everyone can be useful

I think, perhaps, the certification system confuses people, when i first started i thought it was odd that any noob could jump into a galaxy and fly an entire squad around

True you can be an asset and man guns and passanger vehicles but to fly/drive them yourself or use some of the more advanced armors or guns you gota get the kills to get your BR up... which can be a right pain sometimes when everyone is already in / using shiny stuff against you

hmm never tried the game, how good is it? I need a new MMo i have played almost all the stuff out there and now i am starting to get bored of things

True you can be an asset and man guns and passanger vehicles but to fly/drive them yourself or use some of the more advanced armors or guns you gota get the kills to get your BR up... which can be a right pain sometimes when everyone is already in / using shiny stuff against you

1) you can get up to BR3 (IIRC thats 6 cert points) just by trying out every weapon and tank in training
2) 6 cert points is enough to be able to use quite a bit, enough to buy uni-max anyway, which is pretty much a foolproof way to be really useful
3) thats what squads, join one and you have people backing you up with more versatile weapons. you also get so much exp for each kill your squad does.

really fun if you like games like battlefield but want the world to be persistent, and people to actually cooperate. it really does have everything IMO, engineering deployables, tanks, planes, gunships, dropships, artillery, mechs... etc. .etc.

Theres normally always a 7-14day trial going for it and its worth giving it a go. Go check out Sony Online Entertainment's website (cant hunt for it at work as most gamesites are blocked)

I got back into planetside recently after about a year off. It's still good. If you're looking for a vanu werner outfit you could join risk: RISK PLANETSIDE OUTFIT If you haven't tried PS you should IMO. The graphics might not look all that good next to some newer releases, but the gameplay is top notch in my opinion. It does take a while to work out how to kill anything, but in the long term it is very rewarding with large battlefields and strong team play.
