Same as you make a single player mission, only you have to assign a flight per player - you can't make a single flight of 4 available to everyone sadly. :( Other than that just set each players plane to "client" instead of a skill and job's a good en.

3. What's the network utilisation like, ie. how many players could I realistically host on a 1Mb (256k up) line?
Blinkz has the same connection and hosted 6 without any lag. Set the server to 10Mb LAN, and everyone connects on 56k modem rates
4. What's the deal with multiplayer carrier take-offs and in-flight refuelling - do they work in 1.01 or not?
Set the takeoff time 1 minute after one another on a carrier else you all spawn at the same time in the same place and explode. Refuelling does work but the baskets don't appear on client screens until you've connected - it works since you can refuel by flying the cues on the HUD till you connect but it's very difficult and not for n00bs.
