No Conan Post Since Go Live

I am suprised to see no Age of Conan posts since it went live in the MMOG forum.
After gettinjg bored of WOW I decided to move on and this seemed the only option until Warhammer Online is released.

I have ony got my character to Level 18 but so far it has not blown me away. I can't quite put my finger on whats missing. I am am going to give it a full month before my decision.

What do othe people think of it so far?

I'm thinking on getting it end of the month when I get paid, reviews are showing as above average and apparently subscriptions are doing quite well. Only niggle I have is that the sub is higher than most of the other MMORPG's out there. City of Heroes for 3 months is £23, Conan for 3 months is £28. Not a great difference I know but it is still more expensive. When you consider that it is a new game a slightly cheaper subscription would have been a better idea.

Just looked at requirements and passed all the minimum bar hard disc space and also passed all recommended except video ram and hard disc. Jaw has just nearly hit the floor as it is showing as 30Gb needed for installation, going on that required spec alone think I will be giving it a miss as I only have 100 Gb total hard disc space to start with. Might get LOTRO instead I'm thinking, game itself is now £19.99 boxed retail and the sub is cheaper.

I still have hope that the end game will deliver, huge scale city sieges etc

I love it

Although I only get a handful of hours a week to play.

I honestly think its one of the best games I've pld. But I've had a pretty much problem / bug free experience. I think that's a major factor.

was thinking of getting this after they bring out a trial because it will be my first p2p game(if i like it) that id pay for instead of trial, didnt like wow or city of heroes(although it is better than wow imo) but the gameplay must be on par for me to part with my money and be indepth enough it will last me the year atleast.
Any1 care todo a personal review of the game?

I think I know whats missing. When I play MMOG I like to play evil e.g. undead in wow etc. In Conan there is nothing like this everyone is the same. Cannot see the point in PVP if there is no epic good versus evil battle. Thats why I will switch to Warhammer on release but until then this will do, unless in a mad moment I decide to reactivate my WOW account.

I've definately decided on LOTRO instead of Conan, yeah Conan is tempting but I will give it a miss and see how it goes with further development. If people REALLY start raving about it I might get it when I get my new PC in a few monhs time.

I just got the client and played on my friends account and it's just ughh...
I do like the Lineage 2 style of pvp where you can go kill anyone you like but the graphics don't stun me either..

I really prefer WoW rather than that. Waste of a 14gb download.

I'll be honest I do enjoy AoC but like others have said there just seems to be something missing. I haven't actually logged on in a couple of days (mainly due to other reasons) but I'm using it, like others say, to keep me going until WAR. Not decided if I want to continue past the free trial yet either :S

Purchased it on release day, the week prior there was a whole mixup with users not getting into the early access. A lot of confused information that seem to vary from store to store, some sent out EA codes in time, some didnt.

However, in the first week i focused on levelling through the content, got to level 55, a quick breakdown:

level 1-20
Eye candy, gives a good impression that the game is finished. Noticed a lot of review sites and journalists doing write up's in the Tortage 1-20 area, although they have an impression of the game i feel its very biased as this game gets worse through the levels.

level 20-40
The game is still going good, plenty of content, plenty of quests and xp to lvl up. Mounts open up at 40. Get ready to be upset, cus those free mounts you got namely the Rhino and Mammoth are ridiculously slow, its actually quicker to move around by running.

Take note also that having the 3g to learn riding skill and buy the mount at lvl 40 is quite impossible. I'm level 55 and i've just cleared the 3g needed to buy it. The main problems were the fact the Auction House system was not implemented from day 1, because of a gamebreaking bug that would let people dupe items. Ill admit they added it in a content update a few days after release, so at least you can sell items on the auction house, however the economy is still fresh and you dont make a great deal of money trying to sell items. The other big issue is the lack of bag space, literally go out and do one quest, kill a few mobs and your full. But if you want to lvl you dont want to keep running back forth the towns to sell up, so you tend to pick and choose what to loot, which is shame.

level 40-50
It starts to slow up a bit here, if you've skipped the group dungeons (i.e. its quite tough to find groups) and did some group quests but not all, you may start grinding around these levels. I noticed a fair few people complaining that 45+ is when it really starts to slow up, however i managed to get to 50 before it came to a crawl.

level 50-60
This is where you goto the mountains, from level 50 on there just simply isnt enough content/quests to level you. I pretty much sat here for 5 levels grinding and doing the odd quest here and there, at 54-55 ish more content will open up but it will be red to you. Once i dinged 55 i'd had enough, ill admit i've gotten used to games where content takes you right the way to lvl cap. The days of real grinding are long gone, its just not acceptable these days, and i think one main reason is looking back at Wow, at the start which was the end of the era for real grinding games. Wow came in full of content and attracted so many new people from outside of the genre, and i would say many of these people are not used to having to grind level after level, and its expected that content be in place to reach level cap.

So at 55 i called it a day. I could go further into the issues that many people have with this game, missing content, bugged npc's, and gamebreaking bugs that made it through the beta, but instead ill point you to a review that i think is generally fair towards the state of the Game today

The annoying thing for me now is the decision of what to do for a few more months until something else comes out to try

TF2 and Garry's Mod lasted me 1 weekend...

Well i been playing it for a couple of days or so and i do enjoy playing the game. Mostly because the classes, skills and the storyline is awesome. However as most people say there might be somethings that are missing such as the need to have a good vs evil or at least a race vs another race. However on the forums i have heard rumors that facom might mod it so that you fight against other races. Then only problem is like one race which is Stygian i think doesn't have a tank, so not sure how that would work to be honest.

Another feeling i found missing was to differentiate the higher level armors and weapons, at level 1 your staff looks like a stick and at level 80 your staff still looks just the same. The game does have a huge amount of bugs at the current state but they do have a very good development team fixing it. The classes are not balanced and most of the skill trees or feats as they call it don't work.

I have also heard that priest of level 60 actually beat a mage level 80, which i found hilarious, other than that i think its got the potential to take a chuck out of the wow industry.

overall it is a great game but its still got a while to go before its working at 100%
