Right, so some questions, do both lo:mac and il2 have ww2 and modern planes? will they both run ok in my radeon 9100? And where do I get a cheapish joystick?
Many questions for you lot

lo:mac is modern and il2 is ww2, they don't have anything in common. dunno if it will run on ur card, ur better off asking the other peeps about that.
IL-2 ran fine on my GeForce 2 MX440 at 800x600 lowish settings, so it should run ok on a 9100 at the same res. Didn't try LO:MAC on my old card, only my new one!
GPU's are getting cheaper though, soon 9800PRO's will be around the £100 mark I reckon!
I hate to say it, but I picked up my Cyborg Platinum form PC World for £30 and it's fantastic. Not as good as the X-45 (obviously, that thing has about 200 different button combinations!) but will be perfect for beginners.
:edit: And another thing, IL-2 is much easier to learn but harder to kill anything as there is no guidence, but there are less buttons needed! LO:MAC is easier to kill, but there are TOO MANY buttons to learn!
Still I know the basics of both and can take off, fly around, navigate, shoot, kill and land ok (except last night when Pee and Lowe were just in front of me, landing very nicely at the same time and I came in too fast and high and missed one of them by inches as I flew over the top when they had already landed and I landed in front of them! ).
good jystick the Big_Al...very good choice...
Radeon 9100? are you sure? Dont be offended but isn't that a laptop card?

Well, I would like to do some crazy stuff with a flanker so I should be going for a lo:mac, does anyone know for sure tho if it will run on my card?
Will this one run for sure? http://www.xfxforce.com/product_view.php?sku=PVT31KUA
I though fx was better? Dunno!
Might be worth checking if thers a LOMAC playable demo you can dload. I did run it on my 8500 LE 64mb. Had to turn the settings down a lot but did run, think my 1gb of ram helped as well. LOMAC does tend to push just about every component of a PC, so a low spec CPU,RAM,graphis will all show. Have since upgraded the 8500LE to a 9800pro. If you get IL2 make sure its forgotten battles, thats the lastest version and some additional maps/aircraft are soon to be released. If you do get LOMAC dload the latest version of the manual and read it before trying to shoot down anything, especially if your in the Russian stuff you need to learn the radar controls.
Good luck
Flibb
PS if your looking at Gcards 9800pro seems to be dropping in price at the moment, keep your eyes open for deals.
I remember being able to play the lomac demo on my shuttle when it was released and i was only running mx440 onboard at the time so its prolly worth a look
