Sound Cards in CoD4 and other FPS

    Hi guys,

Over a year ago I started with my "new" Quad and X1900 XT and I used onboard sound.
i played CoD4 with it for several weeks, and then decided to pull my finger out and install my Revolution 7.1 M-Audio card.

I actually installed it for an IL-2 night we had not long ago, because I can hear Bf109's with it, and by moving my listening position in the cockpit I can tell whether aplane is above or below me...it takes practice but it's not hard.

It also transformed CoD4, and I shouldn't be suprised, but I was....again...by how good real gaming audio can be. This is is Headphone mode, NOT surround. I have some Medusa 5.1 Headphones, and I love them, but I still always default back to good stereo imaging.

Does anyone here play CoD4 or another fps with onboard sound?

its a tad different becuase i play it on the xbox, but i have a connector that plugs from the TV to my Panasonic speakers ( http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...trackInfo=true ) which i think gives off the same impression, where i move around i can tell from where the direction of the sound is coming from, making it a deep or higher pitched sound from ths speaker on the side its coming from making it very usefull to find out where the person is shooting espeically helps when people are sprinting around and i can turn and get they before then get me

Never under estimate the power of sound in gaming. The amount of times I've been kicked or banned from servers due to "wall hacking" is absurd.

I'm not good enough to be accused of that yet, but I have made a few kills with my LMG through soft walls

Trouble is with this card in CoD I just cant work out up and down at all, so I shoot through a wall and the bloke IS that direction, but he's upstairs! so I just bring them all down onto me

I used to think that was a myth too. First when I played AA people were talking about which headphones are better and whatnot. I tried the headphones and it made a big difference, although a different SoundCard did nothing for it. I find it in CoD4 the bg sounds are way too loud for you to hear any enemy movement unless they're real real close, and by then it's too late.
