    Launch time in game: 17:00

    NB, carrier launch and landing

    Heads up guys...

Ukranian rebels are continuing to cause trouble in the region. Top brass has decided we're going to make a decisive strike on a training camp in their territory that intel has highlighted as being one of the foremost centres of learning in terrorism.

The area itself is disguised as a village, though it's hive of activity. Most of it is underground, though vital equipment and stores are housed in the upper buildings. It is these upper level buildings that we are to target. Destroy as many of them as you can, leave no stone unturned. Since it's disguised, we don't imagine there to be much in the way of AAA or SAM activity in the village itself. However, we know they have an airfield on the coast which although is quiet (no fighter aircraft) it has active air defenses.

We expect that you may come across some GAI fighters since you will be flying into their airspace. However, they don't have an airbase with fighters that is particularly close, so a quick strike from 4 aircraft should mean you're on the way out before the interceptor aircraft are launched.

Make it back in one piece gentlemen.

Playtested the mission with Blinkz last night and it was a bit easy so with a little bit of tweakage I got it to the point where after two passes both of us were left with mashed planes so it's about right.

I'll say this though, if you can't drop a bomb off an Su33 without too much trouble go practice now... :x

You won't want to overfly the target more than once...

Good mission peeps. Got 3 of us in the air; myself, Merlin and Cesium.

On ingress we were engaged by 2 MiG29s, the first Merlin dropped like a tonne of bricks, then I dropped the second despite him being "Super feckin pilot 2004" to quote Merlin. He dodged 3x R27ETs and 1x R73, before finally sucking up a R73 from me! Still, he bit the dust leaving the 3 of us unscathed and clear for a run in on the target. Spacing ourselves out we ran in on the target.

The target had other things in mind though... One of the rebels sneaked an Igla out and shoved a missile in Cesium's rectum, giving him a huge fuel leak and a smokey engine. I managed to get a clear run in and dropped my 6 bombs, nailing a good portion of the target. Merlin was unable to get a clear run in, so did well to notice another MiG that was sneaking up behind Cesium and myself.

For some odd reason, the MiG decided not to engage Cesium who was flying a crippled plane, despite chasing him for a minute or so. At the last minute he peeled off towards me, however thanks to Merlin spotting him I chucked an R73 up his arse which cut short his plans to down us.

Things went a bit pearshaped now.

Cesium suffered an engine explosion which caused LOMAC to crash (same as Blinkz did the other night actually) just before touch down which was a shame. I managed to get a clean touch down, as did Merlin. Congrats on your first online carrier landing! /applauds

    GG peeps, well done all.

    Also :-

1 - Ces's carrier take off was the closest to the water an aircraft can possibly get without sinking. I was holding my breath going purple, he just managed to get some air at the last second. /phew!

2 - Super pilot was un be friggin leivable - 3 missiles close range and he just brushed em off like they didnt pose any threat whatsoever. He out manouvred 3 missiles within the space of 30 seconds. :O

3 - Please God bring us teh patch. Crashes and 14/15fps online when Solo play gives crash free games and 45 fps = a big fat WTF.

Bugger - got in a bit too late last night - were you guys on Teamspeak? - couldn't find ya

BTW - R-27ETs are tosh, use R-27EA's next time

Patch is long overdue now, multiplayer is still bloody unstable afaik and explosions cause ridiculous stutters... anyway leave them R-27ET's in the box eh

Yeah we were on TS from about 9pm onwards.

As for the 27ET's, I swear I used an IR missile off the 33 that was a near 100% killer every launch. I'm sure it was an IR jobbie, but never mind...

Anyhoo, was a good laugh had by all. Skii, catch me on MSN and we'll fly the mission again if you like. Got some awesome screenies from it.
