    Everquest 2

So a friend of mine is persuading me to try EQ2. Sounds fun but also seems rather expensive...the subscriptions fees seem...high. $14.99 a month to $148 (ish) for a year.

Any of you lot play it? I'm trying to get the demo at the moment though it is a massive pollava so far, installing the sony game station thing and then update that, then register via web browser THEN I can download a trial version of EQ2 after re-launching the game station thingy. Here's hoping the game is fun; after all it is my first MMORPG and effort just for a demo has been insanely stupid

    Re: Everquest 2

MMORPGs are really the worst style of game for a demo possible. Gigantic downloads to test something, really isn't great.

The game itself I found quite 'meh', I had played EQ1 a lot before trying EQ2 at release and it just didn't gel with me. At the time the game was far too advanced for current systems (I was running SLI 7800GTX when they were state of the art and it still required a ton of options turned off) and the game play was lacking.

Since then of course, hardware has more then caught up and the game has been tweaked a number of times. I almost went back to play it recently when they had a month free for old customers but tried EQ1 instead.....

Like most MMORPGs, it will require a fair amount of time to get to grips with and to get anything enjoyable out of it......and that's if the genre suits you.

If you have a wife or gf, then expect confrontations about the game should you find you enjoy playing it

Well a friend who I used to play online FPS games with has been trying to get me to play EQ2 for the past year. It is totally awkward to even attempt to demo this game, as you said MASSIVE downloads to get anywhere (still downloading now). I honestly do not know if MMORPGs are something I'd like; I've always avoided them like the plague even more so since WoW came out and it was main stream

What I dislike from hearing about MMORPGs are "grinding" just to level up and the seemingly repetitive nature of either Raids, Quests or harvesting/crafting. I hope the demo proves me wrong and delivers an immersive world like Oblivion but with a multiplayer aspect. If not, at least I tried it out and said no.

    [EDIT]
HOLY CRAP! It's a 9GB download for the TRIAL!!! LooooL! This better be an awesome game...

    Re: Everquest 2

Well I had a 2 hour play last night being "mentored" by my friend...nothing that different from an offline RPG other than other human players who just seem crazy and run about like lunatics! Me, I was happy enough working out what buttons did what and trying a few quests. Good thing my friend was there mentoring me, he saved my bum a few times from the fights I picked.
