Frustrating just isn't a strong enough word to describe this game on Veteran, the poor Ai (Enemy and friendly) doesn't make it any better. Why not give the online a go Zak, and as mentioned by Gonzo, Zombie mode is well worth playing if you can find enough friends

I know You're frustration Zak. I was stuck on that bit for so long, I ended up saying things like who desigined such a stupid game. Oh and just before that there was a guy up in a tree who seemed invunerable to bullets. That really pleased me.
What I did was run in throw and take cover behind some boxes and barrels on the right next to the wall, throw some grenades into the corners try my best to throw back theres, even though they do seem to have an infinate supply. Then I poped off a few guys with A type99. Problem is though unless you advance they'll keep coming. So when I'd taken a few from range and I ran in with the flamethrower. This still took me a load of goes becuase of random grenades etc. Best of luck, I almost gave up on Veteran at that point! and the rest of that level. Definetly the hardest level for me!
I found the beginning jungle & the bit with the flame tank harder. Just hoards of Japanese, got overloaded.
In the trenches I found smoke grenades a godsend.
I found hardened pretty easy, you can take a lot more damage and the grenades are less frequent. But Veteran just takes the fun out of it.

I havent anywhere near completed this game...
i spend all my time playing it on multiplayer...
am around level 40 second prestige atm...
singleplayer got put aside when some of my friends from cod4 made it to prestige a few days into the game being out :/
There are a few high rank servers that boost your leveling
I accidently joined one and went from 14->65.
Silly how they protect level hacks by making it all online, yet they allow the servers to modify how many points you get.

blokes in trees were irritating, but not as irritating as the blokes looking down into the hold in the ground that I was in.
OiD's right about SMOKE... it helped lots, but only for my random firefight technique, which is not uber, but... er.. random
I'm effected ... I actually dont fancy booting this game up and having another go...
real pity, what a waste of a potentially great game
