Ah now you see you suckered me in there by mentioning BattleGroup42!

BF42 has produced some of the most thorough mods I've ever seen. Of the legion of mods that first surfaced you've certainly listed the ones that leap out above the rest for me.

Desert Combat was the first biggie that frankly had the best coders of the time. It was fun if eventually frustrating and incomplete before the devs were bought up by DICE and set on a different path.

EoD I've not played (something I should rectify) so I cannot really comment. Looks good though!

Forgotten Hope suffered a similar fan-boy epidemic to Desert Combat. It was a somewhat unfair image as the mod itself is pretty good. I enjoyed it, some of the maps in particular stood out, but ultimately I found it to be unforgiving and didn't suit my style of play.


As for BattleGroup42, well as co-founder I can't help but be somewhat biased. Suffice to say its philosophy was somewhat different and as a result attracted a different kind of gamer.
To this day I still marvel at the dedication and commitment of my fellow modders. What started as a colleagues annoyance with BF42 gameplay eventually had as many as 30-40 multinationals beavering away to put out what I still believe is a fabulous mod.

Now it's sometime since I left the team but I notice they continue to produce new versions.
In fact I've every intention of seeing just how things have changed and if our original philosopy has been retained.

Can't wait!
