4870 is jerky in Cod4, but fine in CoD5

    Lo people,

    I have a 4870 512mb and it's lightning fast. In benchmarks.

It runs a CoD4 timedemo, of my own making, at way over 130 fps at 1680x1050 with no AA or AF.
However, in the game itself, it's jerky as hell. I'm not saying it's unplayable, but it's not smooth.

In CoD5 W@W however, it's silky smooth, both in game and in SP.

I have drivers from April, and currently can't get onto AMD/ATI's site for new ones, as it's slowed to a crawl, but having googled it, a few other people are having equal grief.

It FEELS like a driver issue.

I knocked the res down to 1024x768, and it was just as bad.

I've changed the Cat Control Panel features, both using Manual Settings and their default from Performance to Quality.

It just feels wrong. Any ideas guys?

moved by myself as I think it might be network/config related

    Sussed.

If you set the In Game Aspect Ratio to anything other than Auto, it jerks.

So DON'T set it to 16:9 or 16:10, as it;ll ruin your game.

why would you need to change the the AR from auto? is the res you choose not enough of a clue for it? have you been messing?

I was messing, because a wider aspect ratio would help while playing. There is a config setting the adjust FOV, and I was experimenting ages ago... but as it was on my old card, it was jerky anyway.

Now I have the newer card, I was saddened to see it not running properly.

    Simple thing.. sussed
