    Re: ArmA 2

Oh my word, it's arrived and running. Even with my fairly modest system I've got everything on High at 1680 and whilst it's not perfectly smooth it's playable and enjoyable.

On the iGi server we're running the new ArmA 2 Domination mission - pretty much the same as ArmA 1 but obviously on the new map.

First impressions - wow, the vegetation makes things hard to spot, much more so than ArmA 1! The AI is as tough as ever, but even more aggressive.

The immersion is just insane, I was with 3 squad mates stuck behind a wall with a small gap in it. The AI was throwing just about all they had at us, and the what with the smoke, tracer and bits of wall flying about it looked breathtaking.

I'm seriously impressed, this is one brilliant product.

    Re: ArmA 2

Got home tonight to to find it on the doorstep. Only had a quick bash but was pleased at how well it ran on normal / high settings with out tweaking anything.

Having problems installing the 1.02 patch though. Looking on the forums seems like im not the only one.

    Re: ArmA 2

It seems pretty impressive, the vegetation at least means going prone means you just loose sight of everything.
I've had a little trouble with the fps, when on the ground running and with a fair amount going on it all runs smooth on mostly high with a few med, but when i was driving the Hummer the screen would stutter every 5 seconds or so.
Had alot of trouble persuading troops to get in the chopper or cars aswell, they sometimes get stuck against it not being able to move. Also had the helicopter land in the trees on the mission to find the officers while trying the last lead killing everyone on board
    Still it's pretty damn epic

I thought i'd give MP a go aswell, joined a map not really knowing what was going on but thought i'd jump in the blackhawk and fly myself closer to were the friendly troops were, got shot down somehow before i got close, tried again flying over the tree tops and got shot down again. Never saw how. Need some more practice i think

    Re: ArmA 2

Man, sucks that the one day there's a postal strike in london it's the day that arma should arrive from play.

Didn't come sat either Expecting it tomorrow, hopefully.

Looks like I'm going to need a better computer to play it at its best though.

    Re: ArmA 2

Mp has been a bit Frustrating so far, lots of time standing around doing absolutly nothing. Finaly get a chopper to take you in only for no infantry to be found at all with the domination game. See one tank floating about and that's all. All i've actually shot at is friendly troops that had picked up American weapons.

Tried another map which was a different type of game and there was all sorts of air and armour there but armour got destroyed pretty quicky and infantry due to the amount of air and armour didn't have much to do. Then when i tried the aircraft it was destroyed on takeoff, no sign of missile trails and wasn't freindly fire? Just what happened there?

Some people were saying it's possoble to teleport or parachute into an area that's friendly to you so getting to a new battlezone is quicker, couldn't find a way though??? were they talking out of their backsides?

I was just going to ask how the MP game plays..hanging about doing nothing and just running around aimlessly doesn't sound too exciting..will try the demo when it appears i think.

    Re: ArmA 2

You need to read up on the mods tha the servers are running. Some allow you to jump directly from the base to mobile base vehicle so you dont need to wait for copters, think thats how domination works. It can take a while to hunt out the last enemy in a town. Dont forget to ask where the action is, if people are dying there must be enemy someplace, they wont necessarilly hang about in the center of a town. Dying a lot but loving it

One of the biggest problems i've come across aswell is to counter that bordom many players just take to shooting other people respawning. You'll get a nice pop up saying a towns been taken and that for the next round we've got a T-72 only for someone at the base try a missile test on it, bloody annoying.

Where do you get the info on the servers though? And just how does the 'teleport' work?

Guys I'll do a guide tomorrow in multiplayer because if you've not played arma before you've got no chance of understanding it. I dont mean to patronise any of you it's just the learning curve is STEEP.

Also appreciate at the moment this us all new for a lit of people so the tardery will be at an all time high.
