The Bridge on the River Kwai------yawn
jarhead--------------------------not a war film more off a documentary
top gun--------------------------plain gay
I have to disagree on SPR; I think it's actually pretty good.
Top Gun
Top Gun
Top Gun
- 9th Company - actually not a bad film, but not essential and since I guess not many people will have seen it to say either way, I'll say it should go
- Top Gun
- Saving Private Ryan

EDIT: wheres behind enemy lines on that list?
Slightly confused by the voting system. It's personal taste, but, are we voting for the worst war films or their lack off reference to war (war only serves as a backdrop to the actual plot).
My 3 choices for worst war films:
1) U571 - Historically inaccurate
2) Sniper
3) Universal Soldiers
Notable movies missing from the list:
The General
The Great Dictator
Lawrence of Arabia
Dances with Wolves
Little Big Man
Why vote for three to be removed? I haven't seen ALL of those films (and I doubt anyone truly has), so what if we miss out on a really bad film?
For example, lots of people voting for Pearl Harbour. Now I haven't seen it, so I can't really vote for it, even if everyone else thinks it's pants. Therefore you won't get a true vote for which films on the list I don't like.
You're picking three from the list that you'd like to see removed, for whatever reason. And disregarding all the omissions which have obviously been made.
That's the point of picking three and then toting up the results, even if you haven't seen SPR, enough people have and have disliked it to make it a clear leader for removal from Zak's list.
The General, the film about Martin Cahill? That's a great gangster film, but not a war film surely.
He has a point, in particular to little-known foreign langugage films and that's the reason for my ruthless vote against 9th Company - it's better than loads of films still on that list, but not many people will have seen it to express an opinion compared to Top Gun or Shaving Ryan's Privates (two AWFUL films that I also vote out just in case everyone leaves it someone else to vote out). Likewise my horse No Man's Land, a predominantly Bosnian language black comedy and an excellent film. I'd be quite surprised if anyone else has seen it, so it doesn't make sense to apply the same voting system as Pearl Harbour or even Escape to Victory (and what on Earth is that still doing there) across all the fillums![]()
