Yeah even just being able to listen is better than nothing however lets face it a pc mic is hardly expensive these days. Even Asda sell them lol!

Won't be on tonight, probably tomorrow though because I've ordered a joystick for aircraft
Josh - go get a mic, it makes such a difference.
Not in front of the gaming PC at the moment, but set up a new connection and where it asks for server IP put the address.
I did that and nothing happens. it just goes back into the main screen of mumble
i dont know why but when i first tried it without realizing my connection was dead via the bebox i got a message saying error connecting but now i get nothing other then the welcome message you see when you first boot up mumble. some things not right about it. are you sure i don't need a username and password? what should i name the server?
Any ways, i went into the arma 2 server and realized you had terrain set to the lowest settings? the game looked awful and i had to quit the server. i cannot play this game without vegetation. that's one of the main reason why i love this game!

Taken from the ArmA Guide thread:
Settings:
This will appear a little unusual, but the settings menu where you pick your view distance, object detail etc, primarily refers to your single player set up. When you go online many of these options are defaulted since they are server controlled. View distance and grass level are the normal culprits and if playing a 'Domination' map you will need to adjust these when you first get control of your virtual self. Do not try to adjust them via the normal graphics control menu; it needs to be done via the 'Status' menu when you scroll your mouse wheel. Select the ‘Status’ option, then a window appears detailing the current main target town, any secondary that needs attacking within the town, and any side missions available. You will also see some buttons (Team Status, Settings etc). Click the settings button and the window now shows your current grass level (defaults to low), the view distance (defaults to 1200m). Alter these to your preference and then select OK. Note that this needs to be done every time you log in to a server.
You will need a username for Mumble - just put anything in, you don't need a password though.
Hmm hadnt spotted that, will have a fiddle tonight to see how it runs with grass up a bit, and longer view distance. Did some rather nice sniping with the DMR last night, ended up using the last milldot as my aiming mark, an manged a couple of runners. Only problem was running out of ammo and some dumm *******_******* getting the mobile base blown.
