Re: Wanna know why IL-2 is so good?

Reading the reviews of Rise of flight you only get 2 planes, and the missions don't have much replay value.
It's about £5 for every extra plane aswell and there all late war single seaters that are available iirc. So after paying for all those extra aircraft the gameplays not going to change all that much. The scenery is truely epic though but game doesn't seem to be worthy of the price tag from the outside looking in.
DRM is a little off putting aswell.

Anyone know what the equivalent to VEF is these days? I just hit up a dogfight server for an hour and a half and now I want proper combat

    Nobody? Shame

I'll probably be in hyperlobby later getting riddled in dogfight servers tonight if anyone wants to join me...

    Trig... why steam?

Knoxxy, I think tbh while VEF sounds like a great idea, after all these years that kinda thing has aged badly.

BUT... some of the servers are well scripted now, and it's worth teaming up with a couple of us and just trying to own a map for a few hours.

Re: Wanna know why IL-2 is so good?

I lost my old DVD, found it on steam so got it thru that, saves needing a disk.
Dont think it keeps it upto date tho which is **** as thats one of the good things about steam games, they generally are always updated before you try to play them.

Re: Wanna know why IL-2 is so good?

I still have my 1946 DVD at home, as well as a saitek wireless cyborg evo. I bloody love IL-2 but just don't have the desk space or time anymore. I have been playing the xbox version, ands whilst its good for a blast, its nothing like the PC version. Especially moving mud, its just not as good.

Re: Wanna know why IL-2 is so good?

It's a pita to run on vista 64 too even hyperlobby doesn't seem to like vista, half the buttons are missing :-/

I was useless for the first 4/5 hours but I managed to bag a 109 or two in the end though there's so many extra planes to get to grips with since I last played as well it's gonna be a real challenge to get back into it properly.

Re: Wanna know why IL-2 is so good?

I'll see if I can get up at some point, there are guides to getting it to work thru steam/hyperlobby..

Knoxeh, can you try running it in compatibility mode, might see you right.

rgr. 4.08m is the latest - there is a 4.09, but it's beta and doesn't do much...
