And that is the nub of the matter - obviously there is some disagreement about the OP's view of the game, but there has been little posted here to say why the game may not be as good as he claims.

I'm sorry but when I first read the title "Modern Day Warfare", and continued to read the first couple of paragraphs I couldn't help but feel that the OP was taking the piss....

Ermm, yes they can. Surely someone who is "half way to intelligent" as you put it, would have the intelligence to read what the OP put, then think hmm maybe this person doesn't have such a great grasp on the English language as I do (I for one myself struggle, that doesnt mean I'm not intelligent) and then not reply in such a rude and degrading manner?

If you are going to reply to something atleast reply constructively and with some meaning to your post, rather than being rude, it's some of the posts in this thread that stop some people wanting to post on the forum's to be honest.

If a moderator post's something, that other's generally don't agree with, they dont get ripped into as if they didn't exist, they get treated with respect and courtesy, so why is it that this particular member has been treated so badly? After all, the moderator is just member of the forums like the rest of us, are they not? The only difference is they have been deemed to carry themselves in a way that Hexus believes premotes them and given the extra priveleges to help the forum's run smoothly and "usually" without trouble.
The OP's profile says they are an IT systems analyst, so I don't think everyone should be so quick to 'defend' them by patronising them as 'being on a different level', if anything it is far more offensive and disrespectful than simply 'responding with bollocks' or taking the mick, atleast those two types of response hold the OP to the same standard as everyone else rather than patronising them as you would a child.

The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

Re: COD Modern Warfare 2 on PC is awesome

    Right,

I have been watching this thread for a few days now and bit my lip. I REALLY think everyone needs to chill out a bit and start thinking before posting.

Either that or possibly a break from the forums may well be needed.

The OP obviously likes the game, for anyone that does not agree with that kindly discuss it in a matter that does not involve hurling abuse at other members or spitting the proverbial dummy out of the pram and grow up a bit.

If you feel you cannot constructively discuss this in an adult manner then do not reply or I will start deleting posts, giving out infractions and if needs be will temporarily or even permanently ban members.

Consider this a fair warning, other members of the team have been all over this thread trying to calm things down. For some unknown reason though, it is not being taken on board what is being said by the team hence why I have finally spoken out on this.

Please listen to what i am saying as i or the team don't want to have to start dealing out bans etc over something that cannot be discussed properly.

First person has now received a 1 week ban from HEXUS forums.

I am not taking this lightly, the warning has been issued so if anyone else wishes to carry this on they are more than welcome.

I just want this thread back on track, if anyone doesn't agree with the OP, be constructive as to why you don't agree with him.

It is a discussion board after all.

I just want to say a big thanks to Disturbedguy for his contribution to this thread also

Re: COD Modern Warfare 2 on PC is awesome

Well, here are my opinions (Spelt correctly - see last post for epic failure on my part) on Modern Warfare 2, hopefully it will be readable and understandable to you all

Single Player: Only played the single player for about five minutes. Have just got through the school and out into an alley, which probably took about 10 minutes on hardened so I can't really comment on what I think about that aspect of the game yet!

Multiplayer: Well, before I jumped into some proper public play the mates I was going to play with suggested I do some private party playing with them. So it was me (noob) and two mates (slightly less noobie!) against two guys, one a work colleague one..I have no clue who he was, who were both very good players. So first game, I promptly got my backside handed to me round after round after round. I don't think it helped that the two people we were playing had heart beat monitors so knew where we would be coming from every time..and then there was the fact that playing an FPS online, with a 360 remote felt completely odd and alien to me!.

Anyway after an hour or so of party playing, I decided to venture into the wild that is proper 360 online play and boy was that a wake up call and rather frustrating! Why? you ask!
Well first of all I found the match making system pretty dreadfull, as far as I am aware the system is supposed to create games/ put you in games with people of the same level or around the same level. Me and my mates, all below level 20 were being put in games with people level 50+ every time, and me being level 1, I was like wth!

Anyway played for a few hour's, mainly Domination and TDM, was good fun, quickly got the hang of the controls and the general feel of the game, was still finishing with more deaths than kills, but I wasn't sitting last and was being people with higher levels by quite a large margin.

The lag on some games was..annoying, people running around with 2 yellow bars so pretty much teleporting across my screen and ending up behind me! Had one problem server where everyone lagged, but a new host was found pretty quickly and the..erm fun continued.

So yeah, I felt I had been dropped into the middle of an epic battle, been given the smallest gun I could have been given and told to go kill stuff.

Anyway, by the end of the night I had gone up to rank 8 and with my m4 by my side with a red dot, I was soon cutting men down in their prime..then I was swiftly taken out by a sneaky sniper.

Right thats enough talk about the game play, I thought the weapons were a welcome change to those used in CoD4, the graphics were very good and there was a decent amount of "eye candy". Some of the perks are just annoying and in my opinion are..noobish and rather crap, the main offender of this is the Heart Beat Monitor, I mean what the hell, there is nothing I love more than running round a corner and having a rifle barrel stuck in my face by a waiting enemy (being sarcastic btw). And yes I know there are perks such as Ninja and whichever on it is that scrambles it, but I just dont think these perks add anything to the game other than frustration. I feel that this version of CoD is based to heavily on the perks that can be used, rather than the players natural playing ability, in this case, I honestly do feel the perks make the player.

So I have waffled on a little more than I wanted to..so my rating...

For single player, because I have not played it that much I am going to say 4.5/10, this will more than likely go up as I play

Multiplayer, when I fgirst started playing I would have said about the same as single player (4.5/10) but after a little play, I would probably say about 7/5 or 8/10)

Nice one mate, good to see some decent input on this thread.

Been thinking on getting this on PS3 as multiplayer doesn't have to be paid for by a gold subscription!! I've been reading that Infinity Ward or Activision are going to do a paid for type service on this also, guns and maps etc. Have to wait and see how it spans out.

Yeah I read the same thing elsewhere also. To be honest i was going to get the game on PS3 but all my mates have it on 360 so figured I may as well play with other's rather than by myself as it makes it more enjoybale.

    My own MW2 thoughts.

    *SOME SPOILERS*

    Single Player
I was a little worried that my porr computer would have problems playing this game but thank god it played with no problem's what so ever so i could enjoy the game without poor gameplay, so to begin with my first thoughts where the graphics of the game - even though it maybe the same engine as CoD:4 its been modified to get the best out of the engine with you can clearly see, espeically the detail of the faces of the models in the game and the way they models move is a lot more realistic compeard to 4, the game feels a lot more intense and in depth and does not seem to hold back on what to show.

The airport misson didn't bother me in the slightest but thought it was a little unessesary (the reason why the game was classed as an 18) which ment a lot of people missed out if there perants refused to buy it for them, and seeing as the other games in the series only reached 15 they could now be missing out due to that misson.

The way some of the unplayable shots have been done really gets to you for example when Ghost and Roach where betrayed and then burned by General Shepherd it made me think you F*****G B*****D, something that COD4 never done for me, the missions to me feel like you have a much more control over what happens in the game (even though its game over if you dont do what you should) like for example at the end of the game where you have to pull the knife out of your chest to save price.

Didn't like the fact that for a 40 pound game that i only got 5 hours of single player action on the hardened difficulty but then again as other people have mention in other thread that i will get years of fun out of the multiplayer ( i still play call of duty 2 now ) and the spec op's was a nice touch apart from no friends on steam to play it with

all in all in my own opinion it was a brilliant experience just wish it was a couple of hours longer.

    Multiplayer

When i first started the multiplayer i was plesently surprised with it ( i won the first game )
I even enjoy the MP much more than i do on COD4 and even though a lot of people hate i think its becuase of the Matchmaking System that i like it so much, i always get put in a game that gives me 4 bar's and and people with the skill that im at, ive been put with 20 level 70's once and thought to myself that it didn't work like it claimed but still ended up winning proving that its just a number!

I like the fact that there are locks on everything so the game is played the way its ment to be and everyone has the same experience, if a patch comes along which get's rid of the matchmaking system i wont be best pleased but if that means it brings in more players then so be it.

Even though i greatly enjoy the gameplay and fun of the MP side of things i do also have a few things that i could moan about, one of these is that there so many things you can change it makes it a pain in the arse if your not used to the game especially when you have the time limit to the next game which makes you rush and make mistake's, i think that the Title and Emblem is a waste of time and just clutters the screen with more stuff.

Like the single player its not perfect but they have done a bloody good job and cant find anything that makes me wish i got a refund, i can see it being my next call of duty 2 and giving me years of entertainment.

Re: COD Modern Warfare 2 on PC is awesome

I've merged your thread onto this one watforddude, don't really need an additional thread discussing the same things, also helps keep this thread on the right tracks.

    Thanks for the decent input

Thanks for the review Watforddude - there are some spoilers in there though, so you might wish to notify readers of such before they read ahead.

For me, I like the titles and emblems and enjoy collecting them.

Perhaps we should have a Hexus MW2 multiplayer night sometime soon?
