Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
Well seeing as people are sticking to reality...I'm gonna be the idiot oddball :D
Either the YF-19 or YF-21 from Macross Plus. :)

However it would be quite fun to see what it's like in a VF-25 with super pack :D

As for where? Well...these things can do space as well as atmosphere however the best scene I can describe would be to emulate Isamu when he first takes the YF-19 for a "spin"; straight up to the atmospheric ceiling, falling back down towards earth and then paint a picture whilst dancing through the skies in pure joy. To top it off, all on a clear morning in some boring sandy deserted testing ground. :)
Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
Another one from me:
Sat on the runway on a cold crisp November morning, 4 engines attached to each wing rumbling away, poised to take the strain and drag the old bird skyward. A very significant and nuclear payload in the bay ready to be lauched should the time call.
As I could wish for any scenario, I might as well take off from one of the most significant places in Western Europe during the cold war. (It's only about 3 odd miles from where I live ;) (Also yes I know this particular aircraft was never actually stationed there, although the base did have the capacity to accomodate it :))
So name the aircraft, and name the location.
Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
F-22 Raptor American Fighter on a cloudy day flying low over Belfast city and the mountains!! :D

Well, there's an awful lot i would like to pick, but just can't see anything better than Spitfire over the Kent countryside. :)

Wherever you guys are flying so i can scare the crap outa you :D
In all seriousness for me it would probably be an VTOL type aircraft like an F35 or Harrier flying through Hong Kong during the Symphony of Lights.

In a Lancaster heading over the channel at night in the middle of a howling storm in the top gunners bubble dodging drips, a formation of Spitfires just barely visible in the clouds above cracks with of lightning popping the silhouette's of everything in the skys around me. Perfect :)

Seeing as you've got Newbury listed as you location I'm gonna guess it's RAF Greenham and considering all our Nuclear bombers had the engines IN the wings rather than under them it's got to be something American...maybe a B47?

First part - correct, RAF Greenham Common :) At one point home to 96 out of a total of 160 GLCM's the UK had.
The next part strictly isnt historically accurate or possible, but hey Zak said by some fairy god mother witchcraft anything was possible.
B47 is close, but only had 6 engines ;)
Think a little bigger . . . . .
Greenham was built to take them, but never had any based there.
Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
Bigger? That'll have to be a B52 then, a flight in one of those crossed my mind as well. Good call :)
Speaking of the cold war I'm a bit shocked nobody's mentioned anything Russian that's post WWII, no Blackjacks, Bears or Blinders yet :(
Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
Not sure it technically classes as an aircraft as its more of a hydrofoil but the Ekranoplan would have been pretty cool to go in :D

Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
P-51D. Crystal clear winter's day high over France and Germany.
Or a DH Mosquito....at 100 ft, in sunny weather.
Re: Which ONE aircraft would you take a flight in given one wish?
Tough one isn't it.... a TU-95 bear would be a good one to have go in with the noise from the 4 turboprops with contra-rotating propellers drowning everything else out, flying east over the Steppe into the sunrise.... either that, or as someone has said, an SR-71 at 70-80k feet at mach 3.. but to be honest, I think the best jolly ever would be to get transported back in time to the Apollo program and hitch a ride to the moon - nothing would ever beat that. Ever.

You might get your chance. Personally I couldn't handle an Apollo rocket. Straped onto thousands of tons of epoloaive rocket fuel with a no visuals but some small windows?

Doesn't matter where. Doesn't matter when.
Vulcan.
