Think so, as far as I am aware it includes all the Il2 addons including pacific fighters.

Still having grief with my x45 and running profiles, when a profile is loaded the rig blue screens (win7 64), tried searching forums etc and no answers, but some others have had the same problem.

Sooo anybody recommend a joystick for around 30, not bothered about lots of extra buttons, but throttle and rudder would be handy.

Check the bay for the USB Cyborg Gold, thats the one I have, throttle, hat, 4 fire buttons and the most imprtant thing, twist rudder, never really got along with the rudder on the throttle on the X45, with the cyborg its so much more natural, to me at least..

It IS hard!! When I fired it back up the other night for the first time in ages, I couldn't remember what keys I'd assigned to really important things, like radiator settings and prop pitch...

I had to install the new Saitek profiler which wouldn't read my old config file, so I spent some time trying to decode the old file and making a new profile. I can still fly around OK, just can't hit diddly-squat as usual!

Re: IL-2 1946 is still alive and kicking like a good 'un

I have IL2 and all the packs, but haven't had it installed since my stick died. Might get another this weekend.

Obviously I will need the patches, but is there anything else I should get? And are there any recomendations on mods and or sites for skins.

I will be mainly single player, as I remember being very rubbish. Might venture online, if anyone needs a drone to shoot down....

like he says... 1946 plus 4.09m patch.

Skins are ok, you can grab what you want, but most servers dont display them so you'd be wasting your time.

Lowe should be up soon... he;s getting it, and .:iGi:.Cal (DannyM here ) is gonna try to get a stick I think.

I'm back... Feels good to be back in the air, but I'm rusty, gotta get used to a new stick and they've made it a lot harder to recover from a spin in the mid engined stuff. I'll persevere though, feels good to be crap again

Re: IL-2 1946 is still alive and kicking like a good 'un

Birds of Prey? I've been playing quite a bit on the 360. It's good, by far the best console flight sim around in my opinion. On the lower difficulty modes it plays very much like Crimson Skies or Blazing Angels, very arcadey but fun none the less. You have to unlock difficulty levels as you go in the tutorial, Arcade gives you friendly and enemy icons, more powerful WEP, takes away stalls almost completely, radar, automatic weapon correction, exterior views, unlimited ammo, auto prop pitch, auto trim and stops damage from affecting the handling of your plane. Realistic takes a lot of that away you still have icons and radar, an exterior view and auto prop pitch but it's a very different game with everything gone, the controls react much more like the IL2 I'm used to as well. Simulation mode's exactly what it says on the tin, cockpit only and the only aids are auto prop pitch, multi engine control and radiators, only problem is it really really needs a stick to get the best out of it on simulation and that's an expensive luxury if you've already got one for the PC.

If you can pick it up cheap and one of those difficulty settings sounds right for you I'd reccomend it, it's beautiful to look at, the campaign's good if a tad short, there's some cool online modes and if you're like me you'll probably spend quite a while gazing at/reading about the planes in the hangar/encyclopedia section. Don't expect the world from it though, you still need a proper PC if you want the best IL2 experience around in my opinion. It's good but it's not quite there if you know what I mean.

It sounds quite good. May have to tempt my brother into buying it now!

In the meantime, I'll be sticking to PC.

I'm trying to get up to speed for a sortie or two.

I have IL2 1946 (from Steam), but haven't even had a chance to set it up to my liking yet - need to patch it as well! Also need to re-install TS and hyperlobby. What I really need is time. .

    Hi Moby S!

If you load Hyperlobby and find it has no buttons you need to do some text editing...
    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-wargam...w-buttons.html its dead easy

and Teamspeak.. TS2 is now replaced by TS3, but I have both installed as I host a TS 2 server occassionally
