    Star Trek Online

Is anyone thinking of getting this? It looks quite interesting to me and a little bit more casual friendly!

friend of mine just got his beta code from a pre-order but apparently the servers are JAMMED of people trying to pre-download it before they get the disks!
hoping he has it sorted by tonight when i get back from the gym at 9 so i can take a look before i buy it!

in theory this could be really good! imagine some Epic battles!!

I'm certainly intrigued, but I'll probably wait for some reviews and a price drop before I invest

I'll wait too..i'm a Star Trek fan but i'm waiting to see if it's another one of those MMO grind-fests that are so prevalent these days.

Go have a try of it as today is the launch of the open beta, first come first served on keys though. Not sure if the open beta is live or will go live later today.

Been thinking about it... It's been a long time since I've played any MMOs but I've got my eye on this one, I might give it a look after some proper reviews come out.

Got a key and downloaded the client, just need to wait until 6pm tonight for it to either go live or die horribly as thousands try to connect!

I'm not sure why but I'm kind of put off by the idea of everyone going uber-geeky star trek style while playing. I mean I like star trek and all but for me: gamer first, trek second.

Thinking about it... Will there be klingon language only servers...?

Seems to have been developed in rather a hurry! Seems only last year it was announced. Will wait for the reviews as well.

    Re: Star Trek Online

I played in the closed beta and with the servers in the US found it quiet laggy, still waiting on my open beta client to download anyone having lag issues?

maybe all that on a role play server - i can imagine with its core fanbase that would be INSANE roleplay!

i went round to my friends late last night to see how the download was coming on, he went home at dinner time to start the official download - 9pm it hit 1.3%
he then tried it from a mirror, got to 20% over night then everyone got wind of that too, its certainly got going to be got soon.

apparently the customization is REALLY good too! and people on the "name your vessal" forums are mixed with the people want to play it for fun with the UBER Treckers and its not going down smoothly, i got sent a screenshot yesterday of a guy going ape sh** because of the names people were using and he then gave his like USS (insert epic name) and the next guy posted "USS Stronger than Batman, Superman and The Incredible Hulk Combined" classic family guy

Yes, I fell over near my desk, managing to accidently turn on my computer, input my password and then log in and purchase the game. Whoopsie.

My ship is called USS Boggins. I think I might upset some of the more excitable peeps. There are no servers anyway its instanced like other cryptic games. I am rather enjoying it!
