    Re: World of Tanks

Checkout the forums at WoTs; they're loaded with good guides. I'm keen to get a better tank when I next get a chance ot play. I would say speed is very important in your little tank. Shell types I think are reasonably important ie HE is good as you don't need penetration but do a little less damage. Crews and their proficiency are important; I blame mine for me being rubbish.

Please share if you get any tips!

My German traktor is looking pretty good with a lvl3 engine and lvl2 suspension its quite nippy.

EDIT: My usename is the same as on here so feel free to add me. (I'm noot very good though!)

    Re: World of Tanks

Cool mine's the same too, very few things will just allow Pob to think I've used pob since arcade machines would only allow 3 letters.

It's going to be a while to change tank as they are rather pricey esp when you're just starting off.
Also you seem to have to start paying for ammo once you upgrade your basic gun, I did that researched a new gun, had just enough to buy it then found out I didn't have enough for ammo so had to put the basic one back on for the free ammo.

    Re: World of Tanks

@flibb and Domestic_Ginger, I've added both of you to my contact list.
Only way you seem to be able to actually team up however is by paying gold for the premium and forming a squad

Well, day 2, rather a lot of battles.
Tricked out all three starting tanks
Of the 3 starting tanks I prefer the russian, you can get a nice 42mm gun for it packs a heck of a kick.
The german one is nice however my least favourite, because all the upgraded guns are weak machine gun types, ok against other starting tanks but once you try going up against the tier 2 tanks they don't have enough kick also you need to get in close to get multiple hits to do any major damage. however you're too slow even fully tricked out.

I made enough to upgrade all three tanks to tier 2
USA I went for the M2 (12,500 credits) it's cheap and fairly easy to get hold of, at first it's more of a set sideways from a tricked out tier 1 starting tank really bad gun, slightly faster
Once upgraded it's not bad, although the radio upgrade is ridiculous, 5600 points! and costs 33,000 credits! Why that's got a level 9 radio upgrade I don't know but it'll be next to impossible to complete the research on that tank.

Russians, I've gone for the BT-2 (22,000 credits) it's the start of their medium tank branch, I wanna a T34
BT2 is nice, it's pricey, fast, but otherwise average so far.

With the Germans I decided to give the Tank Destroyer a try, the Panzerjäger I has become my favourite so far, it's not very fast, no turret means you have to keep out of short range, because light tanks can easily keep behind you where you've got no armour.
However it's cheap (11,450) and mounts powerful guns, which are also very accurate when stationary, I can take out tanks with 2-3 shots at range where it would take me a dozen or more with a tank (6hits and another 6 misses) it's also fairly cheap to finish the research on it.
I'd like to hold of the next one up but it's 78k

I'm getting about 2,000 credits per battle with the light tanks and 3,000 with the Panzerjäger I, mainly because I'm hitting an killing more.

oh and if you're wondering who weak the rear armour on it is, I was killed within the first 30seconds of a match, I was not shot or artillery ganked, no a team mate accidentally drove into the back of me in a Pz38t which is a tier3 light tank.
Yep the rear armour is made of tissue paper, also been one shotted by enemies as well.

Tactic is simple, try to keep up with the light tanks as they go forward they'll be ahead of you and detect the enemies, while the enemy is busy with the light tank in front of him you just stop and snipe.
keep one eye on the mini-map for blips at all times.

    Re: World of Tanks

I chose the BT-2 and M2 too. I'm trying to get the 75mm gun for the M2 atm.

Got a Luchs which are meant to good but its like tractor sim again; maybe it needs upgrades and I forgot to buy any ammo....

    Re: World of Tanks

    umm the m2 doesn't have a 75mm gun http://game.worldoftanks.com/encyclo...ightTank/m2-lt
I think you mean the 37mm, the 20mm is ok vs other tier 9 and 10 tanks at very short range when you can get multiple hits in, but it's still a massive step up from the .5 mg you start with, that's soooo much carp.

    M2-medium

Given the artillary a go and it seems okay; slow reload times are putting me off it though.

    Re: World of Tanks

Ahh the medium version, nice, how long did it take you to work up the 68k credits?
Not looked at artillery yet, well apart from being on the receiving end.
I've dead watched a couple of absolutely useless players who hadn't fired once in the whole match.
I love the Russian tier9 artillery though, it's just the starting tank with a dirty big gun stuck on it. It's a real bit of early 20th century russian engineering, jusy take what's at hand and weld them together.

Another interesting observation, on both my light tanks about 40% of the matches I'm in a mixed group of tier10&9 so i'm near the top of the match list.
About 40% of the time I'm in a mixed light and medium tanks tier9&8
The remaining 20% is mixed tier 9&8 battles with light, medium, artillery and tank destroyers as well as light & medium tanks.
On my tank destroyer I'm only ever in mixed teams and always near the bottom of the match list, so while I'm up against tougher enemies I still tend to get more kills.

I think I go a bit too gungho in my light tanks.

    Re: World of Tanks

You can trade gold for credits. They give you 250/day. I should have signed up six months ago!

I'm a bit rubbish tbh and completely too gung-ho; zooming arounf in the BT-2. I'm looking forward to getting a decent tank crew together and a half decent tank and just having some fun.

EDIT: I can't actually find anything better to spend my cash on but you can get a premium account. If I scrape some pennies together we can have a platoon evening.

    Re: World of Tanks

The game is going live on 12th of April, the beta data will be wiped.
Don't know if accounts will be carried over or if you'll need to go through the process again.

Also no free gold when it goes live, you ether have to pay for it or just grind credits, which is part of the reason I've not spent any of my gold yet.

    Re: World of Tanks

I'm pretty sure when they wipe beta data your gold is going too. There is no way a year gold on someones account will be left unchecked; then again thinking about it I suppose you can not give gold to other players but then the sale of beta accounts is unethical.

My take is you're grinding credits either way so you might as well get a little boost!

Didn't realise it was ending on the 12th........

    Re: World of Tanks

Yes all the stuff will be wiped, just wondering if they will take account names and passwords across Some people will be getting added stuff for being in the beta but that's from before jan ie not us

When it goes live there's no free gold, you have to buy it with real money, part of the reason I've not spent any gold yet, I want to see how much of a grind it would be if you don't pay anything when it goes live.

But with the beta cut off so soon I might well splerge it all.

No it's more a cross between an fps/3rdps team shooter + mmo + driving
Think of it a bit like battle field 2 but ever one gets a tank.

AutoAssault was much more your traditional MMO but in cars, I liked Auto Assault

It's all just a 2 team battle each team has a base/capture point, the system auto-balances teams so you should get anyone too ubber who just goes round wasting the whole battle field, of course some people are better than others if someone gets more than 4 kills they are good/lucky I'm pretty sure your stats play a part in the auto balance not just your tank.

Don't know if it's the people, there seems to be more higher tier tanks about tonight, or I'm just being rubbish, I've been getting a right pounding tonight.

I spent some gold and got the next soviet tank in the tree tier8 and I'm getting hammered, it's no weaker than the last tank tricked out, I keep getting wiped out by tier 7&6 tank destroyers making the same sort of money but my repair bills have gone up so I'm making less per match now.

edit: @Gerrard, I'd check your filtering, I got mine in minutes.
Also I went via the website not that shatteredcrystal link
