IL2 1946 on Steam - Hyperlobby Issue
I have IL2 1946 on Steam, which has been fine for offline playing. However, I've got the itch to get back into some online air to air action.
I've downloaded the latest Hyperlobby Client, but damned if I can get IL2 to launch properly. Everytime I try to enter a server (War Clouds for example) I get thrown back into the Hyperlobby before the game launches. It then comes up with a Time out message.
Any ideas how to get this working or should I just cough up for a CD-Rom version of the game?

I think Trig had this issue too.
I'l look into it.
Re: IL2 1946 on Steam - Hyperlobby Issue
OK, firsty make sure Hyperlobby is looking for Forgotten Battles...not IL-2
then point it at
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\il 2 sturmovik 1946\il2.exe
see if that nails it.

make sure you put the .exe on the end
Re: IL2 1946 on Steam - Hyperlobby Issue
There was a beta of hyperlobby about which I found from poking thru the forums, suprised its not final and the problems are fixed by now..
Re: IL2 1946 on Steam - Hyperlobby Issue
Thanks Zak and Trig - I'd fixed the path earlier on when FB kept launching, so that isn't the problem. It seems to me that Steam just takes so long to launch the game that I get kicked back into Hyperlobby, and then when the game does finally launch I can't get onto the server. I dunno - I'll have a look around the Steam and HL forums to see if any solutions come up. Maybe it's just my cranky as hell Dell reminding me that I need to replace it.
Re: IL2 1946 on Steam - Hyperlobby Issue
I found a fix.
I went to Network Connections and disabled a Cisco VPN connection I'd set up for my wife to use when she was doing some contract work. Now everything works fine. It must have been interfering with the port.
Now I've got to tweak my settings to get rid of lag and remember to plug in my joystick!
