Whats your config.ini settings ?
"" IL-2 Sturmovik : Forgotten Battles - performance decrease when set to "Perfect" mode
This issue affects the following system configurations:
RADEON 9600 XT/ RADEON 9800 XT products
CATALYST 4.3 and CATALYST 4.4 Display Drivers
When playing the game IL-2 Sturmovik with "Perfect" mode enabled, a noticable drop in performace will be noticed when compared to using CATALYST 4.2 display drivers.
ATI Engineering is aware of this issue and is investigating ".
It ain't just a problem with the XT cars - apparently its all of them.
Your framreates will double with 4.2 or earlier drivers
Go get the old 4.2's - I reckon thats your problem

it allows things in 3d to smoothly move away without jaggies....
So....sat in an LA7.....looky here.....
BOTH are on 6x Anti Aliasing, on a 9800 Pro.....on Cat 4.2's
WITHOUT ANISOTROPIC....
Not the 2 d parts of the canopy are SMOOTH......but as a metal strut leans AWAY from us....(green arrow) its jaggy!
right.....with Anisotropic on 8x
Note...for accuracy...I mistakenly CALLED the second file ".....6x" and it WAS deffo 8x cos trhats the option I used....there is NO 6x
Just for the record...
It DOES slow the beast down tho....but least we KNOW what it does VISUALLY now!
