Help needed...
Well guys I was instructed by MA_Dak to come here and ask for help :)
The problem is the following:
I just got an ADSL conx with a zyxell usb moded.
When I first installed it, everything worked excellent.
Then after a couple of hours, I said to get in and try some things and then I found out that I could not enter into HL anymore!!!
Anyway, I entered using my ISDN conx and I asked for help and a very good friend offered to help me.
He told me to go to Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add a line with HL's ip address and so I did. And yes indeed the HL worked!!
Then, when I tried to enter into the net by iexplorer I could not enter!!!
I used mozilla with same result. Could not connect!
I tried and deleted the line that I had added in the hosts file but still nothing worked (neither HL this way...).
Do you have any suggestions on what to do?
Your help will be highly appreciated :)

DNS settings in your network properties

Thanos, the problem that we fixed on Dak's computer was that his ISP's DNS (domain name server was dead) that meant he couldn't get to hyperlobby but could do everything else.
IF you can't get anywhere Neil is right and you need to check your settings for your USB router. Makings sure that your router is able to see the internet first, by pinging
66.102.9.99 (which is www.google.com for me) and see if you get packets back, if you do your DNS settings are just at fault.
If you need help sorting that out say in here again and we'll sort you out...

Hello guys and now sit down please :)
If it was not a public forum you would really hear me saying a lot of bad things.
So, what was the problem????
Everybody is wondering and Hat who spent almost all of the night with me, will be most angry when he'll hear what I'll tell.
This st#$@%$#@ F@#%#@%$# ISP help desk person was telling me ALL the night that EVERYTHING was ok from their side. BUT only this morning I found out (by a friend in this ISP co) that they had a huge problem with their DNS' and routings!!!
So, we spent all night trying to fix something that was not from our side cause some "great" guy wanted to hide that it was his company problem!!!
I'm so sorry for all the troubles I caused :(. Please forgive me...
At last, I want to thank all of you for your precious help :)

Ditto Tumble, Thantos when you ask as politely as you have, believe me 99% of people on here would help you until they ran out of ideas. Great community here for IL2 and for helping people fix their machines.
Glad to hear you are back and sorted :D

Yeah hang round and tell your mates :)

yeah, I'd always help as much as I can... my suggestion of pouring warm butter into one's ear then running around in a rubber chicekn suit didn't help solve any network issues but it got the guy 6 months paid 'emotional leave', when he came back someone else had sorted it and he had a fantastic tan... so it did help, kinda..

Sorry I could not hang around and help more but it was the very early hours of the morning. Something was obviously wrong with the servers as the NSlookup results were unpredictable to say the least. Trouble is if the routings screwed there is little you can do about it even if you can get the DNS issues resolved
