I can't work out how to installl Black Op's without Steam.
Do I HAVE to have it?
I've never run Steam, I don't want it... I got the DVD retail (as I always do) for my shelf collection.. and now it's insisting on Steam.....
any way round it?

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I am furious... bloody livid!
It's a BOXED RETAIL GAME, I still have to use a Serial... .so why not do it like CoDW@W where it checks online everytime before I can play?
Now I have to have the gamingf equivalent to iTunes in the corner of my desk top....?
Typical retail punter too... seethed for a while and HAD to judge whether to take it back for a refund and never play it... or swallow my pride.
I hate being cornered.... hate it.

It's not even damn welll installed yet.. I know it's not... I haven't heard the disk spool up... and yet it's asked me to click PLAY!!

Play the download waiting game...
******s.. total ******s.
This game had best be damnably good... better than W@W which I've played for 2 years solid.. because I have just singed my life away to people.....

"Oh you're not getting THIS one,... it's the fake one for display it has no engine..... your's is miles away, we've not prepared it because when you gave us ALL THE MONEY UP FRONT WE STILL DIDN'T THINK YOU'D WANT IT YET...... you can't HAVE it until you give someone else all your details and agree to pay for the fuel to get your one here.. which.. by the way.... might take 4 or more hours..... that's ok though isn't it? Because we've had so much car theft recently that we have to turn into bandits ourselves too justify the price we charged before"

It's abysmal.... it's taking the total micky tbh.
I've got a DVD in the drawer and I don't even KNOW if it's done anything OTHER than install Steam yet?
MY BANDWIDTH (luckily not short this month) is being drained by a company who I've already paid for a total game.
I didnt get a DEMO.... it's a FULL RETAIL box.
absolute total High Grade Narked off.....
IF I went to HMV and bought a 12 track CD and came home to find I had to download it.... and that it WASN'T on my CD at all... I'd be no less gutted.

I still don't see what the big deal is. I think steam is great, I can buy a game whenever I feel like it and I never have to worry about losing the media, it's always there ready to download and install again whenever I reinstall windows. Everything is always up to date, much better than having to hunt down patches from various unreliable places!
That's not even mentioning the fantastic sales that are on nearly all the time. The holiday sales have been fantastic this year and I've got some really good bargains.
I don't think you're being fair, but that's just my 2p.
ps. when you buy a car you don't always get to drive it away straight away, sometimes you have to wait for the dealership to get the exact spec in that you want, or you may have to wait for a check up and service
pps. when you go to the cinema you have to sit through at least 20 mins of trailers if you're lucky, more if you're not. Having said that I like trailers

Thats odd that you are waiting
I installed black ops for one of my kids last night and it installed the whole game from disk and downloaded the updates via steam which took a max of 15 minutes from putting the disk in to being able to launch the game
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
