I'm a Sorcerer, currently thinking of just going DPS but may give healing a go at some point.

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

So, I've hit 30 now and I'm confused... I must have about 30-40 different quests in my log, most of which I can't solo even though there's a 1 person pic next to them, stars have appeared in my on duty window but I have no idea what they mean, PvP is a joke with bug abusers and I have no idea how to get better gear or if my gear is good enough for duo's/hard alerts.

    Help!

I did, but he's level 28 already after about 2 days of playing... It's pretty fast to level up!

I'm getting a bit concerned about this game now, loads of people quitting due to the PvP bug and not many staying on after the first free month. Almost a month now and still no updates/bug fixes seem to be coming out and they have just introduced a new 3 month payment plan, which appears to be just trying to dupe people into playing for another 3 months because it's cheap.

I really do not wish that my earlier fears about the game come true, but Reality lost is almost a dead server, and most EU servers appear to be suffering the same problem. With no cross server queue's for alerts/duos/pvp etc the queue times are horrendous (I was in the queue for any arena, alert or legend the other day for almost 2 hours with nothing popping up), and when you do get in one it's almost likely to be just you or 1 other person.

Happened to me last night, got into Oolong with 1 other person, luckily I was a Fire tank and he was a controller, which meant I had enough power to heal myself and he was doing decent DPS. However, half way through my char bugged out and I couldn't move or use any abilities. I tried to port to the beginning again but still couldn't move, so I had to relog. Once I did, I was out of the instance and couldn't get back in despite queueing, really, really, REALLY stupid bug that. No wonder people ask you to leave if you join an instance half way through because their League member disconnected, it screws the game up big time.

I'm not sure what to do now, appear to be unable to find a decent Villain League on Reality Lost. I'm considering rolling onto one of the busy US PvE servers, however time difference will be a major factor, as will lag probably. The EU PvP servers don't seem to be that bad, however I refuse to roll on them to give gankers a good time from stopping me from levelling.

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

So far I have a level 13 or so Nature/Martial Artist on an EU PvP realm which is fun, but you're right Allen the ganking does get annoying after a while.

I've also made pretty much one of everything up to about level 6 on Reality Lost.

I think I will be going Sorcery/Dual Pistols as a healer, found that to be the most fun so far, but like you Allen, want a decent server with decent people and a decent league for this to be long term fun. For now I'll probably get my Sorcery Healer to 30 on Reality Lost and see what happens from there.

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

Allen the server population is a little bit of a double edged sword. It's not the population that is the issue as it will show high at peak times (6pm - 11pm) anything out of that is either people playing throughout the day which most of us are at work or the early hours of the morning most the players are sleeping. I know the league I am in are mainly 27+ with kids etc, seems the older players are on DCUO.

Also in the Sony press release on the DCUO official forums, the population hasn't decreased, they increased the population cap to deal with the new sub offers (£19.99 for 3 months). I signed for the £19.99 3 month one currently as a month is £9.99. Sony said they are expecting more subs and players with the new content and story lines etc. Obviously Sony are daft for using a semi broken, unstructured forum to announce the population cap rises so now most the servers will show med pop due to this.

I will give this game another few months and wait for the new content (we already had the cat woman stuff with GL stories on there way) after that I think I will see how the game is, I can see the two PvE EU servers being merged also so we will see what happens. I suppose the other issue is Champions Online went Free to Play and I must admit I jumped onto that also so I am playing both when I get a chance

Depending on what Sony produce with the new stories/content/duo's/alerts etc depends on whether they can keep me subbed after April or if I jump over to Champions Online.

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

IF the servers are merged, what will happen to those with duplicate character names? I'm gonna reserve mine on the other server just in case, if they're not taken already!

With regards to the server population, I'm not going by what the server status tells me, I'm going by how long it takes to get into an arena or instance, however, saying that, I hit 30 last night with my Fire character and got into 2 arena's and a duo in about 5 mins of queuing, so maybe it's just there aren't many sub-30 chars but are a few at 30?

I am definitely sticking with my Fire/Two Hand/Flight guy, it's such an awesome combination. Two Hand doesn't build up combo points very quickly, but it hits damn hard which is great in PvP. I got a nice feat in an arena last night, PVP MVP, means that I was on the winning team, captured 10 bases and didn't die once. Fire is just so OP.

Now all I need to do is find a decent League so that I don't have to worry about pugs in alerts, last night I was tanking with one as DPS and one as Controller, however he used no CC and restored no power, meaning that with no healer and a self healing tank with no power, we all died several times over... how we finished that place I do not know!

:edit: My Fire guy is a robot called "David Hasselbot", created it a few seconds after hearing the name in 30 Rock.

I am not sure on the Villain front for Reality Lost but I know there are plenty of Hero leagues constantly opening their doors. The only time I notice the server pop going low is out of the peak hours. I think half the problem currently with the issue to instances and duo's etc is the social side of the game. The chat system is still far to weak for the PC side of things as it was obviously designed for the PS3 headset in mind and the PC voice is lacking to say the least.

Out of interest, what times are you playing the game? I find once it hits 11pm it starts to trail off during the week but on the weekends, I only get major game time on it on a Sunday and it seems from around 2pm - 10pm its busy on the server.

The problem with this game is that the levels can be solo'd in the majority, then it comes to a few instances where it needs 2 or 3 of you. Then we hit the end game, you get Level 30 and all of a sudden the instances and alerts and pvp arena's all need 10+ manned groups and this is where the swing in the game hits those not in leagues hard as you then have to wait on random groups etc. Mind there are leagues out there that will work together like ours due to those of us playing have families etc so we are on peak times etc so we will team up.

I really should stop saying things like "I am definitely sticking with my Fire/Two Hand/Flight guy" as I can never make up my mind. I want to tank with Frost now, lol...

Anyway, Grey M@a, you've got pm.

Anyway, Grey M@a, you've got pm.
If you go tank with Frost then we can double team Can't remember if your character is level 30 now. If so I will be on this evening for a fair few hours of you fancy doing some duo's/hard instances etc. Also looks like the new patch has balanced a few things, fixed some bugs, added a shed load of new content and finally a small improvement to the social side of the game. Fingers crossed the next few patches keep going in the same direction.

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

I have multiple 30's on both Hero and Villain side, however, I have lost interest in DCUO already. It's too easy to level up and apart from running Duo's and Hard Alerts I don't find anything else interesting.

Farming Feats is boring, PvP is FULL of exploiters and if Raiding is anything like HA's then I can see them being just as boring.

Am back to EVE now, I have let my WoW sub run out and my DCUO sub runs out in a couple of days, I doubt I will resub to either of them.

Ah no worries. I know what you mean though, I locked in at the £19.99 for 3 months which will cover me up to my moving house date so we will see if it can keep me subbing after April, I still think it needs a massive injection of content. Must admit though, the emails from eve online saying have 10 free days to come back, it's tempting xD

I've decided to let my sub run out in a few days also, tired of DUO's and other things bugging out and just generally bored now, going to give RIFT a try.
