Ah - one of those annoying sub-based ones like world of bore-craft?

    Shame - never mind

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

Champions Online is currently in beta for free 2 play, was looking at it this morning funnily enough. Apparently the F2P model is actually going live 1st quarter 2011 so that is up to end March, it doesnt state if its worldwide rollout of gradual. Mind you LOTRO went F2P and we were only a month or so behind the USA, hopefully it will be the same for Champions.

I am quite looking forward to Champions F2P in all honesty, I nearly went out and bought it when it was released then decided to hold of for DCUO. However, I was considering DCUO on the PS3 but I flatly refuse to pay a sub for gaming on the PSN. I recently cancelled my WoW sub. Got halfway through Burning Crusade and just got so bored, may go back to it to play the WotLK expansion as I paid for it separate. I did dabble in City of Heroes about 2 year ago but there was no one about in the low level starting type areas so got shot as it became pretty tiresome early on.

Either way, take a look at the Champions F2P faq :

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

I resisted for months, then last night gave in and pre-loaded it on steam xD

I shall be battling it out this evening when it goes live Give it a few months and see how it pans out. Would of preferred a Marvel MMO but beggars can't be choosers

Re: DC Universe - Anyone giving it a bash ?

I played champions online not long after it came out, it didnt work really. The game was buggy and you didnt really feel like a super hero, nor did your skills reflect that of a super hero.

I read a review of DCUO, it was really good because they had a fan of the DC universe play it who had never played a MMO and a WoW veteran who knew nothing about the DC universe.

The WoW player found it far too simple and very uninspiring and the DC guy liked seeing all the characters and locations but didnt care about the MMO mechanics.

Thats exactly where I see this game sitting somewhere in between. I just dont think it will work but would love to be proven wrong.

Yeah man, that 9GB patch took an age on my 20mb line at 7pm last night. Got playing around 8:30pm and was still playing at 3am at which point I had to get off it and head to bed for work at 6am. Feeling the burn atm to say the least.

Currently on the EU PvE server (lost reality I think its called) quite busy last night, by 3am it was quiet as you would expect. Loving it so far, if you go on the EU PvE server drop me a line in game if you want to team up and do some of the instances My character name is Thaw ( Ice character and I am a Marvel Thor fan xD )

Think its just the Character name you need. Anyone else playing this on the EU PvE server, want to send over your character names and we can party up for some of the quests?

    Cool Steve

Probably better to send an in game email and I will add you to the friends list Always better to grind away as a group

I think you only need the character name for the in game email, if that's the case my character is called Thaw Will be on at some point this evening between 5pm - 7pm and then after 10:30pm so I will be about Going away tomorrow for the weekend so if you send a msg over the weekend I will reply when I can

From what I can see for EU there are only two servers, one PvP and one PvE, the PvE server I am on is called Reality Lost, it has a Med population at present so shouldn't be issues with queues to get in. I guess when the game goes retail in mainland Europe tomorrow (For some reason the UK was the only one to get it Tuesday outside of the US) we will see the servers fill up again

Looks like the EU server just got a massive injection of players or there are just more players on around this time, the place is packed, easily seen 50 different leagues appeared in the last 2 hours alone. Guess there were a lot waiting for the retail versions.
