So....what does FRIDAY NIGHT HOLD ?

Just wondering.....if a few MA's might be around tonight for some old VEF's or other CO ops...unless VEF is running again...

Im really sad about VEF being not well.....

So what we gonna do to brighten up our online lives then, pilots?

    kk....good news...get a few of us up...

TiG....hows development coming on the new version of VEF that you MUST be considering in your cunning mind?

A basic Mission Builder and a place to hold the reports....and then only the Squadrons that WE invite...

I can HEAR your mind working from HERE.....and I'm MILES away

Did you happen to see Croupier earlier on in the week in C4?, i didn't but someone said i was the star, apparently the star does maths in my head all day long, working out statistics.

Now in two days i get two completely different people who hardly know each other accuse me of thinking about building a VEF replacement and how much it would take to do heh.

I AM NOT A BOOK - you must not read me - I am not transparent - the voices tell me so, heh.

I am considuring how you would do it yes, I'm not considuring actually following through on it heh.

naa its not a one person job, plus my thread explains that if you do it my way its expensive, those licenses for ms sql2k are going to be able £3k a piece. Thats without even considuring the hosting costs!.

IMHO then if we were going to do it as a project it'd make more sense to go the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) route to keep all the costs as low as possible..

Anyway, I'll be in HL any moment and on TS in eagles server it's it's up

Oooh, just noticed that this is my 2000th post on hexus too

I'm sure it would, but then i've never coded in PHP, MySql is limited to say the least and the reason its free is that you can't do things like replication afaik in it. Apache and Linux work sure, but then thats something that stability wise i'd not have any experience in.

For all the problems with Windows kit - most of the stuff i write doesn't require reboots on servers for months providing there are no critical updates that i feel I need to put on (which is generally all of them heh)

Im on but not sure what time, I am happy to host and have a desert map here with OKL vs VVS plane set upto 1944 including new Spits, Yaks, 190s etc. Also have 4 old VEFs lost the rest due to PC rebuild

So allowing time to walk dawg, collect some paperwork from a collegue and get a key say 10pm maybe earlier

    Solution!! Advertising...

Oh, and don't forget Hat runs a division of a hosting company - maybe he could include a 'special reduction'....

Ah TIG a man after my own heart :-) As regarding hosting Hat may run the subdivision but I help run the main division (lol) If you consider the two main owners are Cess_Ro and Cess_Harpoon and I am the unpaid help (Cess_Wizard) I am sure we can to come to some arrangement.

And TIG they are Win2000 servers with MSSQL sitting behind them. Of course if the LAMP route is insisted on I am sure we could accomadate that as well
