I've been out today and bought Starcraft 2 and so far I'm really impressed with it!
I think I'm on my 5th or 6th planet so far and I'm getting properly stuck in

Fallout 3 after this I think.

I cannot recommend Bioshock enough. I played on Xbox, and there was DRM issues, but I'm sure the PC version is just as awesome

It's a pretty small game not a AAA by any means but i absolutely fell in love with Machinarium, it's an amazingly charming point and click game.
After completing it I felt so happy i urge you to give it a try you can sample it and play the first couple of 'stages here' http://machinarium.net/demo/

Dead Island, it may have a few bugs but i have been addicted since Saturday, and i can't wait to get home from work today and play it some more, however i only get to play in the night and the game scares me, all those zombies waiting around corners and running out and some of the noises are just seriously scary!

No, but GoW, Halo and Forza are the only reason why I've got an Xbox 360.. Will we ever see GoW2/3 on the PC?

Re: Your favourite PC game of recent times

It's quite rare for a game to hold my attention all the way through to completion so for not 1 but 4 games to do that recently is incredible.

    So here's the list.

Red Dead Redemption. Fantastic storyline, intuitive controls and enjoyable gameplay. Can't really ask for any more. I played it through twice and still go back to it every now and then.

Borderlands. Loved this game until they faffed it up with the last patch. The zombie island DLC was excellent too. Another one I started again as soon as I'd finished it.

Assassins Creed 2. I bought this ages ago when it was cheap on Steam and didn't get round to playing it for a while but when I did, oh boy. It ate up every available hour on the computer. I thought the first one was good (I finished that too) but the second one was just amazing. Much more varied missions and so much to do.

And finally, having just finished AC2 I went straight out and bought AC: Brotherhood. Just as good if not better. I finished it (including all the side missions) a couple of days ago I can't wait for Revelations. I may be queuing up on release day for that one.

    CoD W@W (bwtween CoD 4MW and MW2)

WW2 game of single player beauty and then online play of immense awesomeness with more normal players and less kids

Mafia 2... I'm suprised by how much I was taken along for the ride in this... it's amazing.

and probably CoD Black Ops.. but only for single player.
