That's one viewpoint, but it's not one I agree with -
IMHO a game score should be based on the overall experience for the audience it's targeted towards. Some games are designed to appeal to players with a lot of time on their hands, others are meant for a quick play, but it doesn't make the experience any less fun nor are people who enjoy the latter any less worthy to be considered than those who enjoy the former.
The situation we're in now seems to be that we have more and more fantastic games being made for a variety of different play styles. Is that so bad?
I don't like football games or war based shooters. At all. But I've got Skyrim, KOA:Reckoning, Diablo III, torchlight 2 etc. all to look forward to. I've just had The Witcher 2 which was fab, and a whole bunch of other RPGs that I didn't pick up - DESPITE the fact these games don't get 10/10 scores across the board. Review scores don't matter squat, ultimately
